6. What is the change you are trying to bring? What are the main challenges or problems you are trying to solve? Describe this change or challenges, as well as main approaches to achieve it. (required)

Wiki Loves Africa aims to redefine the African narrative using media and to also to give emerging Wikimedia communities an opportunity to interface with the open knowledge movement. Wiki for Senior Citizens Nigeria, Igbo Wikimedians, Tyap Wikimedians and Igala Wikimedia community (who first participated in 2024 without funds) will collaboratively participate in 2025. The theme for the 2025 contest is Farm to Plate and will provide an opportunity for submission of media that portrays the planting, cultivating, harvesting, processing, crops, farms, raw food, process food, cooking, serving foods e.t.c. Basically, elements that shows the process of food production in the raw form from the farm to the final product in the kitchen. Participants will be encouraged to submit on Wikimedia Commons, photos, audio, videos, graphics etc., in line with the theme Farm to Plate which will be used on Wikipedia, Wikidata and other sister projects. There will also be capacity building events and training to improve quality of submissions and ensure that they are useful within the open knowledge space.

1. Ogalihillary: Wiki Loves Africa facilitator, Igbo Wikimedians Commons Hub community lead and Wiki Loves Africa 2024 organizer for Igbo Wikimedians community. He will lead the Project and ensure a successful campaign from the collaboration in 2025.

2. Oby Ezeilo: Founder Wiki for senior citizens network Nigeria, an experienced Wikimedian and experienced organizer of Wiki Loves Africa photography contest. She will play an advisory role for the project and also the organizer in the Wiki for Senior Citizens Network Nigeria.

3. Kambai Akau: Co-founder Tyap Wikimedians User Group and local Organizer Wiki Loves Africa. He will be in charge of logistics and also manage the tracking of the project. He will also organize the project in Tyap Wikimedians User Group.

4. Nwonwu Uchechukwu P.: Igbo Wikimedians Commons Hub project facilitator and one time winner of Wiki Loves Africa in the Igbo community. Experienced jury member for Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Monument in the Igbo community and international juror for Wiki Loves Folklore and Wiki Loves Monument. Also a regional ambassador for Wiki Loves Folklore and Africa Wiki Women 2024/2025. She will be organizing in the Igbo Wikimedians User Group.

5. AgnesAbah: Founder Igala Wikimedia Community. She will focus on communications and also she will be organizing for the second time in the Igala Wikimedia Community.

The campaign is open to participants from the Igbo community, Senior Citizens in Nigeria, Tyap community and Igala community. Participants outside the community that wish to participate in telling the African story are also welcomed to join the campaign. All the communities have active WhatsApp community platforms, we will be updating the communities through the platforms.

After extensive conversations and cognizant of the successes recorded locally in the 2024 Wiki Loves Africa campaign by the 4 communities, though Igala Wikimedians community and Wiki for senior citizens network Nigeria organized without funds, members of all 4 communities have discussed off-wiki and agreed to participate in the 2025 Wiki Loves Africa campaign collaboratively. This would help us put foundation's resources to good use and leverage on our existing relationships and collective experience to host a hitch-free Wiki Loves Africa 2025 campaign.
