Learning and metrics

[edit]
17. What do you hope to learn from your work in this project or proposal? (required)

In this project, we hope to learn effective ways of digital documentation in Wikipedia that can be used to teach, share, preserve and promote Zimbabwean cultural heritage, particularly rites and rituals that are at risk of being forgotten or misrepresented by unknowledgeable Zimbabweans and the world as a whole. As we document these activities, the participants will also be learning about some of the long-forgotten rights and rituals. The community will also learn how their participation and collaboration in the movement can help improve the quality and diversity of cultural content on Wikimedia platforms.

Our learning questions include:

How can Wikimedia projects (Commons, Wikipedia, Wikidata) be used to document and share our cultural practices, such as rites and rituals?

What strategies are most effective in ensuring accuracy, respect, and cultural sensitivity when documenting traditional practices?

How can local communities and cultural custodians participate in documenting their own heritage?

What is the impact of authentic cultural media (images, videos, articles) on global understanding and representation of Zimbabwean culture?
