Rapid Fund Final Report

Application type: Standard application

Part 1: Project and impact

1. Describe the implemented activities and results achieved. Additionally, share which approaches were most effective in supporting you to achieve the results. (required)

Wiki Loves Africa's 2025 campaign, centered on the theme "from Farm to Plate," allowed us to document the production of Ivorian dishes through beautiful videos of excellent visual and audio quality, enriching Wikimedia Commons and filling the gap in video content on Wikipedia about Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire) and Africa. To successfully carry out our campaign, we remained faithful to our previous action plans, which unfolded as follows:

Two virtual training sessions on the following topics:

Introducing participants to the Wiki Loves Africa contest, its objectives, and its vision.

Presenting best practices for uploading to Wikimedia Commons and the types of licenses authorized on Wikimedia Commons.

Training participants on choosing their camera and lens (for those who are able to do so).

Training mobile phone users on the correct settings, proper configuration, and applications that provide a cinematic look.

The objective of these training sessions was to help participants better understand the competition theme and maximize their chances of success in terms of image and sound quality.

2 in-person training workshops

5 field meetings with participants to see how they implement the advice we provided.

6 days of fieldwork with participants during the filming of their videos.

1 final in-person training workshop aimed at addressing challenges encountered during fieldwork, as well as helping participants improve their videography and photography skills.

3 training workshops on video editing best practices and helping participants effectively edit their images.

3 in-person meetings related to image uploads to Wikimedia Commons

The uploaded images represent the theme "from Farm to Plate," related to the culinary practices of Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire): high-quality visual and sound images.

We uploaded 18 videos and 94 photos.

Total images: 112

Our most effective approaches are the physical training sessions and support we provide to our participants.

You can recall these learning questions below: This time we hope to learn if we can implement strategies to see, if we can bring on board, novice sound engineers, novice musicians and lyricists, for the audio category of Wiki Loves Africa 2025.

And we hope to improve ourselves further in the effective and sustainable development of our community.

We encountered some challenges in this regard. In particular, the lack of availability of target artists, due to their professional schedules. We hope to approach them much earlier in the future.
