1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

(Wiki Loves Architects / Architectural Animation) First of it all among Wikipedia event which will be held in Osun State. This project is aimed at bringing people/Architects into Wikimedia community.

This edit-a-thon is aimed at organizing a practical session for the new Wikimedians to put what they have learnt into practice.

The distinct aim of this project is to provide free knowledge about Architects and Architectural structures, cultural buildings and historical landmarks, with the objectives of promoting conscious awareness of the environment by providing information about these structures on Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikicommons. The project will also improve the knowledge of aborigines and give them a new view of Wikimedia project as platform that gives genuine information about things and activities around them and also engage them in contributing to free knowledge.

In addition, this project will exposure and help them acquire numerous digital and research skills that will enable them to contribute massively to Wikimedia project, and development of Architectural works in Osun State.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

Recruit new editors and increase existing editors skills. This project will contribute to information on historical buildings, notable structures and landmarks on Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikicommons.

  • It help increase the awareness of Wikimedia projects
  • It will show Architects how important it is to make their work visible on open source and how it can help in contributing to free knowledge
  • It will help to increase the number of contributors to Wikimedia projects
• It will help to increase the number of architectural animation and pictorial representation on Wikimedia Common
• The contest will help to establish a long term relation with the people/Architects of Osun State Adding or improving local content on English Wikipedia, Wikidata & Wikicommons.
3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

The activities we will be developing includes: We will organize two (2) in-person events to keep in touch with all participants.

These events will consist of Wikipedia Training and Edit-a-thon for new editors and existing editors, and a photo walk to historical and notable places in Osun state for information on historical buildings, notable structures and landmarks.

There will be hands-on keyboard training where the new editors will be given the avenue to practice what they have learnt.

We will create an outreach dashboard where we will assign articles to participants and also monitor their activities.

We will create a WhatsApp group where participants will be mentored after the events.

Adeshina Abdulsamad Olajide: Project lead. has been actively involved in Wikimedia movement, in facilitating, volunteering, recruitment and retention. he has mentored more than 15 editors who are not only active in Wikimedia but also drive the Wikimedia movement.

OTim75: Facilitator. He is an experienced Wikimedia Editor and he co-organized the Wikidata For Tourism in Nigeria. He has participated and won various prizes at different contest in the Wikimedia community such as WPWPNG 2021 and Explore Nigeria contest among others.

Naturespoet: is an experienced Wikimedia Editor, and the winner of Nigerian Novels and Novelist 2022 (Best Editor). He will be in charge of communications and publicity.

Osun State is home to several of Nigeria's most famous landmarks, of which they are not included on the Wiki platform due to the fact that aborigines were not given the opportunity to contribute to the free knowledge platform. The project will create awareness and information about historical structures for the people of Osun State and it Architects and show them the importance of protecting historical structures, monuments and artifacts.

Osun state Aborigines and architects are the audience. Participants will be communicated via different social media channels and physical gatherings. A WhatsApp follow-up group will be created to further engage them. The group will provide them with tips on creating, editing, and retrieving Wikidata items.

All participants will be enlightened about the Wikimedia friendly space policy and the Universal Code of Conduct.
