Part 1: Project and impact
[edit]1. Describe the implemented activities and results achieved. Additionally, share which approaches were most effective in supporting you to achieve the results. (required)
To implement the project, several events were organized in accordance with the plan outlined in the project proposal.
1. The competition was primarily promoted through Instagram and Telegram groups. Additionally, several media outlets published articles about the start of the competition and its results. This approach proved effective in attracting new users and participants.
2. The results of the competition were announced via social media, and both offline and online meetings were organized. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology assisted in organizing the offline meeting.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Kyrgyzstan played a key role in the project's implementation.
Various local media and bloggers were also engaged.
In the coming year, we plan to actively attract partners, local sponsors, and travel photographers, as collaboration with them has shown to be effective based on previous experience.

Part 2: Learning
[edit]4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)
You can recall these learning questions below: 1. How effective is the “Wiki Loves Earth 2024” competition for popularizing Wikimedia projects in Kyrgyzstan? 2. What strategies are most successful in attracting new users to participate in Wikimedia projects through contests like “Wiki Loves the Earth”? 3. How does participation in Wikimedia competitions contribute to the improvement and expansion of content, especially related to the natural heritage of Kyrgyzstan, on Wikimedia platforms? 4. What are the demographic and geographic characteristics of the participants in the Wiki Loves Earth 2024 competition in Kyrgyzstan? 5. How does the level of awareness and participation in Wikimedia projects vary among different segments of the population of Kyrgyzstan? 6. How does participation in Wikimedia competitions affect participants' perceptions and attitudes towards environmental protection and digital knowledge sharing platforms?
During the implementation of the project, I was able to answer many of the learning questions I initially posed.
1.Effectiveness of the “Wiki Loves Earth 2024” contest: The contest proved to be highly effective in promoting Wikimedia projects in Kyrgyzstan. We saw that 68% of the participants were new users, which confirms the interest in Wikimedia platforms and their projects. This demonstrates that such contests play an important role in attracting new users and raising awareness about the projects. 2. Strategies for attracting new users: We found that offline meetings and photography masterclasses were particularly successful in engaging new participants. Offline events in Osh and Bishkek showed high effectiveness, while social media also played a significant role in drawing attention to the contest and its events. 3. Participation in contests and content related to natural heritage: Wikimedia contests significantly contribute to the improvement and expansion of content. Participants not only learned about protected natural areas in Kyrgyzstan, but also contributed to their promotion on a global platform. This helps to develop the knowledge base about the country's natural heritage. 4. Demographic and geographic characteristics: The contest participants represented a wide range of age groups and geographic locations, covering both major cities like Bishkek and Osh and rural areas. This allowed the contest to reach a diverse audience, including international participants. 5. Awareness and participation in Wikimedia projects: Among youth and people with higher education, especially in urban areas, we observed more active participation in Wikimedia projects. Participation was lower in rural areas and among the older generation, which is likely due to limited access to technology and knowledge about Wikimedia projects. 6. Impact on environmental awareness: Participation in the contest positively influenced how participants perceive the importance of environmental protection. Thanks to the contest, many began to think more about the natural heritage of Kyrgyzstan.
Based on these results, I plan to continue using offline events and social media to attract new users in the future, as they have proven to be highly effective. I also plan to expand the geographical reach of the events to include more rural areas to raise awareness.
In terms of changes, I would adapt the approaches depending on the audience: for young people, I would continue using interactive formats on social media, while for rural areas and the older generation, I would strengthen offline work and personal meetings.
5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)
There were no major unexpected or unplanned changes during the project. However, we originally planned to hold an offline ceremony to present awards to the winners at the end of the contest. This event had to be scaled down because not all winners could attend in person. Additionally, we faced limited time and financial resources. Despite this, we were able to conduct individual online calls with the winners to congratulate them and provide their awards.
From this experience, I learned the importance of flexibility in planning and the need to have alternative solutions, especially when working with limited resources or unpredictable circumstances. In the future, I will consider hybrid approaches that combine both online and offline components, ensuring wider participation and reducing logistical challenges.
6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)
There are no such events or meetings planned for this year. However, next year, before the contest begins, I plan to share the results and successes of this year's contest with the community. This will help engage members in the organizational processes and involve them in promoting the contest. This approach will increase community involvement and improve the organization of the next contest based on the achievements we've made.

The total budget was agreed at 2,046.50 USD, but I received 2,016.50 USD in my account. I'm not sure if this was due to a bank delay or another issue.
Additionally, when I submitted the application, the main grant amount was 180,000 KGS. However, by the time the grant was disbursed, due to exchange rate fluctuations, the actual amount received was 169,491 KGS.
