Wiki Loves Earth 2025 in Tanzania aims to increase the visibility of the country’s natural heritage by encouraging the documentation and free licensing of images of protected areas. The main challenges include the lack of freely available, high-quality images, limited awareness of conservation efforts, and low engagement from local photographers and environmentalists. To address this, we will organize photo walks, provide Wikimedia Commons training, collaborate with conservation groups, and offer recognition and prizes to our local contributors(winners). After the successfully of Wiki Loves Earth 2024 in Tanzania which we organized and can be found in here [1] we are happy to be able to plan for this year again. The event’s commons page can be found here [2] - under maintenance.

7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.

As part of this project, we are planning to organize: Online Virtual Launch Event: Introduce the contest, its goals, and participation guidelines. Photo Walks: Three days dedicated to capturing new images of Tanzania’s protected areas, focusing on locations with few or no free images on Wikimedia Commons. Training Sessions: Guide participants on uploading photos to Wikimedia Commons. Online Closing Ceremony & Awards: Recognize winners, distribute prizes, and celebrate participants' contributions.
