Lagos is a city with immense cultural diversity, yet its rich heritage remains significantly underrepresented on Wikimedia Commons. This project seeks to address the gap by increasing the number of freely licensed photographs of Lagos' cultural assets, such as traditional festivals, historic landmarks, and local arts. By documenting this heritage, the project will also raise awareness about Wikipedia and its sister projects, fostering greater participation in the Wikimedia movement.

This change is essential because Lagos' cultural heritage is at risk of being overlooked or forgotten in the digital age. The lack of representation limits global visibility and the preservation of its traditions for future generations. Additionally, many Lagosians are unaware of the opportunities Wikimedia platforms provide to share knowledge and document their culture. Addressing these gaps will empower local communities to contribute actively while promoting cultural pride and global accessibility.

To achieve this change, the project will adopt three main strategies: awareness campaigns, training workshops, and photo hunts. These approaches will educate and engage both seasoned Wikimedians and newcomers, equipping them with the skills and motivation to contribute to Wikimedia Commons. By leveraging these strategies, the project will create a sustainable impact, ensuring Lagos' cultural heritage is preserved and represented on a global platform.

2. Workshop: we will introduce our members to the Wiki Loves Folklore contest and train them on how to contribute/participate and also invite professional photographers in the region and introduce them to Wikimedia projects and give them room to participate in the contest.

3. Photo hunts: we will embark on a photo walks taking and gathering random pictures of about 300- 500 different unrepeated, quality images. Training sessions: another training will be held before the participants start uploading the media files to ensure accuracy and meeting of the requirements and to avoid having many problems with the uploaded files.
