[edit]4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)
You can recall these learning questions below: Learning Questions:
1. How effective are our engagement strategies in attracting participants from diverse communities?
- Measure the number and diversity of participants to assess the reach and inclusivity of our engagement efforts.
2. How well do the activities foster a sense of community and collaboration among participants from different backgrounds?
- Use feedback forms and interviews to gauge participants' experiences and sense of connection with others during the event.
3. What are the most significant challenges faced by participants during the competition, and how can we address them in future events?
- Collect feedback on logistical, technical, and interpersonal challenges to identify areas for improvement.
4. How can the framework and activities of Wiki Loves Monuments be improved for future iterations?
- Analyze participant feedback and outcomes to refine the event structure, promotional strategies, and support mechanisms for future competitions.
5. What is the long-term impact of the competition on the digital documentation and preservation of Cyprus's cultural heritage?
- Track the number of uploaded photographs, their usage on Wikipedia, and any subsequent contributions by participants to assess the lasting impact of the project.
By addressing these learning questions, we aim to continuously improve the Wiki Loves Monuments competition, making it more effective in engaging diverse communities, promoting cultural heritage, and fostering a collaborative environment.
The project provided insights into: 1. Engagement Strategies:
- Social media campaigns were effective in reaching diverse communities.
- Personal outreach through local groups increased participation from underrepresented demographics.
2. Fostering Collaboration:
- Interactive events like the "Meet and Walk" significantly enhanced participants' sense of connection.
3. Challenges:
- Participants faced some logistical challenges, such as navigating to remote monuments or entering buildings during the photo walk. Addressing this with clearer maps and assistance will be prioritized in the future.
4. Framework Improvements:
- Enhanced pre-event training sessions will ensure smoother participation and image uploads.
5. Long-Term Impact:
- We hope that a significant number of photos will be used in Wikipedia articles, increasing awareness of Cypriot cultural heritage.
5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)
Positive: The participation from historically underrepresented groups exceeded expectations Negative: Some participants faced technical difficulties in uploading their contributions, which delayed the process.
6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)
- Presentation at a Wikimedia CEE meeting.
- Blog post on the CEE Newsletter summarizing outcomes and learnings.
- Social media updates showcasing impact and encouraging future participation.
