This project is a mix of two global initiatives in one that will impact many other projects.
- Wiki Loves Public Art - outdoor monuments; public installations, sculptures, murals, attractions, etc.
- Wiki Loves Cemeteries - burial places and memorials of famous and notable people
Since in the independent edition the projects currently do not have an international character as they did in some earlier years, the project will be with local character only. The reason for this combination of two projects is the maximization of resources (finances, people, techniques) with minimal costs. By combining the project, we cover a larger scope of subjects suitable for photography with almost the same costs.
The idea is to combine these two projects (Wiki Public Art and Wiki Loves Cemeteries) and use resources for implementation simultaneously. In Serbia, there are many famous people and public figures who are no longer living, and there are no free photos of them. Photographing their gravesites can serve as a rare or, in some cases, the only source of photographic information about a person or event. Additionally, there are numerous public (not protect as cultural heritage but still inportant) monuments, art installations, and murals in Serbia that have not been photographed or covered in Wikipedia articles. By photographing this public arts, a whole series of articles can be written and illustrated. The idea is to take a photo of burial places and memorials of relevant and famous persons, outdoor monuments; public installations, sculptures, murals, and tourist attractions. Another goal is to write and update articles on Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikivoyage and Wikinews. Also, at the end of the project, the idea is to give prizes and create a virtual exhibition as a pilot project and an innovative solution for displaying the best images.
This photo-project, in addition to its internal goals of expanding the photo base, can indirectly and directly have a positive impact on many other projects. These include updating and creating new content on wiki projects, and using images and articles within other archives, such as CEE Spring, Art+Feminism, Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos, Wiki Public Art and Wiki Loves Cemeteries.
- 7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found. Alternatively, you can upload a timeline document. When the activities include partnerships, include details about your partners and planned partnerships.
- Launching and maintaining a website will be the primary source of information about the project. We will also be able to upload pictures and information from our partners there. Regular reporting on activities, as well as the creation of maps of routes and places to visit, are planned. At the end of the project, a virtual exhibition of the best photos will be organized on the website, as an innovative approach in Wiki Loves photo projects in Serbia.
- organize up to 7 photo tours and walks in Serbia, depending on the interest and size of the groups. photo tours will be in several different places.
- organize an editathon
- organize a virtual exhibition. The Virtual exhibition will be the pilot concept and new solution for the public presentation of the best pictures
- mapping places and things to photograph
- creating templates and tutorials for creating good images, writing articles and uploading images
- Looking for a local partner. We will try to get in touch with tourist organizations, city institutions and places managers (e.g. institutions in charge of cemeteries) in order to provide support, exchange information and possible participation.
