1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

This project is an international campaign to keep editors across the Wikimedia Movement as well as experienced SDGs advocate involved in during the global goal week.

After the 2020, online edit-a-thin, as one of the winners, there has not been a continuous contest/campaign to engage editors both new and existing ones during the global goal week and beyond.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

1. Develop activities to engage editors during the global goal week September 19-26, 2022.

2. Develop activities to bridge the content gap on SDGs impacts across different countries through participants of this year’s edition.
3. Engage in activity(s) that contributes to Sustainable Development Goals and participation in the movement.
3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

1. Develop activities to engage editors during the global goal week September 19-26, 2022:

  • We would send invitation to various communities to send their participants as delegates/participants to engage in the contest during the period.
  • For local engagement, we plan hosting a physical three-day event within Nigeria to involve active editors to provide support and also contribute during the global goals week. We would spotlight the winners through our social media and media partner where possible.
2. Develop activities to bridge the content gap on SDGs impacts across different countries through participants of this year’s edition:
  • We would organize a contest, preferably an online Edit-a-thon with a physical event in Lagos for participants in Nigeria should engage physically. Content on Wikipedia, wikidata among other projects would be worked on, in line with the theme for this year’s #GlobalGoalWeek.
3. Engage in activity(s) that contributes to Sustainable Development Goals and participation in the movement:
  • Participate in the Global Goals Week as a global movement.
  • Share our results and stories with potential partners.
  • Give an account of the results achieved in diff publication.

Alex Stinson is the advisor of this project. He is a leader at the Wikimedians for Sustainable Development. He has Co-ordinated several campaigns especially #WikiForHumanRights Campaigns.

Kiana Alavi: Staff at Project Everyone: would be supporting with social media engagement via their social media account.

James Moore200 The lead of the project; would actively coordinate and oversee every aspect of this contest.

Major Lyte would be in-charge of online facilitation during the contest, monitoring all our wikipages across all languages and also managing the social media campaigns.

Godstime Elijah would be in charge of logistics and local event coordination in Nigeria.

Ptinphumia would be facilitating during the global goal week.

We have informed the core leaders of the Wikimedians for Sustainable Development, and they know about this project for the global goal week.
