Part 2: Learning
[edit]4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)
You can recall these learning questions below: There are many undocumented quotes and Setswana proverbs that exist some of which i do not even know. This project we help in unearthing such knowledge which is hidden and bring it out to the world. This project will help us to know those women with impact in our country which are not even known and help preserve our own culture.
We successfully translated quotes from notable Batswana women and added new ones. As the competition gained momentum, we expanded our scope to include quotes from African women to keep pace with the high level of engagement.
I have learned that Batswana have a deep love for their native language and are eager to see it represented in the digital space. They embraced this project with great enthusiasm, allowing us to surpass the target we had initially set. Preserving our culture has become a central conversation in our country, with many individuals eager to contribute to this important cause.
5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)
I was amazed to see the young stars leading the way, particularly when it came to writing in Setswana. Traditionally, we’ve heard people claim that Setswana is difficult to write or even speak, especially among the youth. However, these young individuals defied expectations, and I am still in awe of their remarkable achievements.
Reaching 2,000 articles was beyond what I had anticipated, yet we accomplished it.
I’ve learned that when you give participants the attention and support they need, they are capable of delivering outstanding results.
6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)
We are planning to write a blog post to share our journey with the entire Wikimedia community.
