The campaign that we are organizing aims to improve the visibility and representation of women on Wikimedia projects, particularly on Wikiquote project. We will create and improve entries that document notable women on Wikiquote. One of the major challenges we seek to address is the persistent gender gap on Wikimedia projects, where women remain underrepresented both as contributors and as subjects of content on Wikimedia projects. This lack of representation limits access to knowledge about notable women and their contributions. To address this challenge, we will organize awareness activities, training sessions, and edit-a-thons focused on Wikiquote. Through these activities, participants will learn how to identify notable women, locate reliable sources, create new Wikiquote pages, and improve existing entries on Wikiquote. The project will also encourage greater participation of women editors, helping to build a more diverse and inclusive Wikimedia community.

To achieve the objectives of the SheSaid campaign, we plan to organize a series of online and in-person activities aiming to contribute to Wikiquote.
The project will include online awareness and training sessions familiarizing participants to Wikiquote and the goals of the SheSaid campaign; in-person event consisting of training workshops, presentations, and practical editing sessions; Edit-a-thons during which participants will create new Wikiquote entries and improve existing pages related to notable women; ongoing mentorship and support to help participants develop their editing skills and continue contributing after the campaign.

Responsibilities include organizing activities, facilitating training sessions, providing support to participants throughout the campaign, coordinating with partners and community members, and preparing project reports.
User:Grâce Aurore and User:Izerte, Co-organizers and Trainers, will support participant outreach and mobilization efforts, help organize activities, and co-facilitate training sessions. They will also provide guidance and support to participants during editing activities.
User:FA.Ralca, Community Engagement and Gender Inclusion Lead, will support the community engagement activities with a focus on promoting women's participation in the campaign. Before the activities, participants will be engaged through community communication channels, social media outreach, online meetings, and direct invitations. Information about the campaign, registration procedures, and learning resources will be shared in advance. During the activities, participants will receive training, mentoring. Interactive sessions will encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing among participants. After the campaign, we will maintain communication with participants through communication channels, mainly our WhatsApp groups (https://chat.whatsapp.com/Iq0p6ZIhqmm3rY2GJ7UB3q), facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61590127753376) and our WhatsApp channel (https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb7eBm7DZ4LUdZMdE81g). We will also conduct an evaluation to assess participants' learning outcomes and gather feedback to improve future activities.

The idea of organizing the Wiki Loves Women – SheSaid campaign in Burundi was discussed with members of the Wikimedia community through our regular communication channels and community meetings. Initial discussions took place through online meetings, where a google meet link (meet.google.com/xtm-jmse-sef) was shared with interested community members to exchange ideas about potential activities and community priorities. Further discussions were held during in-person Wikimedia community activities organized in June 2026. During these meetings, participants discussed opportunities to increase contributions related to women and address gender gaps across Wikimedia projects. Community members recognized the importance of improving the visibility of women.
Following these discussions, there was broad agreement among community members to organize the Wiki Loves Women - SheSaid campaign in Burundi as an opportunity to create and improve content about notable women while encouraging wider participation, particularly from women contributors.

Through the Wiki Loves Women - SheSaid campaign, we hope to learn effective strategies for reducing the gender content gap on Wikimedia projects and increasing participation from underrepresented groups, particularly women. The project will also help us better understand how targeted campaigns can attract and retain new contributors. We expect to gain valuable experience during our contributions on Wikiquote, supporting new editors. Additionally, we hope to strengthen our local Wikimedia network by recruiting new contibutors, developing the skills of existing contributors, and increasing the amount of quality content about notable women.
