- 1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.
South Sudan as a country has a diverse culture which corporates the religions, languages, ethnic groups, foods, and other traditions of peoples of the modern state of South Sudan, as well as of the inhabitants of the historical regions of southern Sudan. There are over 70 indigenous languages, most classified under the Nilo-Saharan Language family. Collectively, they represent two of the first order divisions of Nile Sudanic and Central Sudanic. However, the traditions of these over 70 indigenous communities have not been documented well. With this scheme of the wiki for diversity, we aim to magnify the inclusion of all people regardless of their tribe, age, religion and gender.
- 2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.
The strategies we shall embark on to achieve the changes in this project shall include training of more researchers and writers who will be able to gather relevant information about the diversity which can be used for creating the pages and articles on Wikimedia.
We shall also involve a writing competition among Wikimedians in South Sudan to encourage them provide the most required and accurate information leading up to the goal of diversifying and narrowing down the existing misinformation about the cultures and traditions of South Sudan. We shall also be able to add wiki data items in wiki data. Besides, we shall also have physical meet ups in Juba with a continuation of an already existing online editorton.
