In the year 2024 we maximized our community activities and develop various initiatives to sustain our community and ensure continous support for the community members. The previous 6 month long project organized by our community from the month of July 2024 to December 2024 opens a new chapter of hope, resilience and determination for ceaseless and continual growth of our community, members engagement, skills development and refinements, building stronger sense of belonging and feeling of being connected to Wikimedia projects. The activities provided us with the opportunity to identify our community members weaknesses in relations to their contributions to Wikimedia projects and offered them the needed support. We were able to sustain a good number of active contributors who enormously help in the continous growth by making effective contributions to our language based Wikipedia, the Fulfulde Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects.
Of the crucial changes identified is the growing number of new articles created last from July to December which can be attributed to the data reimbursement intitiatives we designed for the community members were the active editors are getting the chance to be reimbursed after every edit-a-thons and its cealessness throughout the period helps us in furthering the community members engagement and building on the success of previous years. We believe, it will be really difficult to make the achievements we witness while organizing a month-long run projects as we were doing in the previous years before 2023 which was when we began to grow our impacts starting with 2 months long projects.
Despite the successes and achievements we have obtained, we still need to put more efforts to bring in more women editors into our community and include more local folks from yet to reach areas and/or settlements to ensure that our community is giving due and needed attention in addressing gap when it comes to gender diversity and inclusion. We want to use this opportunity to keep the spirits of our community high and ensure that our four established hubs/fan clubs are fully sustained and supported in bringing in new members from diverse backgrounds.
While reflecting on the success of the previous activities implemented, we learned that there were more male participants that females and the editors were mostly from the states were we established hubs/fanclubs. We therefore, seek to address gender diversity and inclusion within our community by recruiting more women and involving Fulfulde speakers from other regions of the country, continuation of our efforts to maximize the community members engagement by offering them the needed support which in return helps them in making effective contributions to Fulfulde Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects.
