Application type: Standard application
Part 1: Project and impact
1. Describe the implemented activities and results achieved. Additionally, share which approaches were most effective in supporting you to achieve the results. (required)
As outlined in our activity plan for April 2025 - September 2025 and the grant application, we implemented a series of regular capacity building workshops, focusing on bringing in new female editors, participants from diverse backgrounds and the overall growth of the Wikimedia Fulfulde Community as well as the sustainability of its Hubs/Fan Clubs.
We executed the workshops with each focusing a particular theme that required the editors to focused on and create articles within that scope at the end of each training. We also grouped the workshops and also distribute/carried out the activities touching each place where we currently have majority of our members. This is how we organized and carried out the planned activities:
- Four (4) out of the seven (7) total events were focused on capacity building trainings where the community members skill was boosted while targeting our four established Fan Clubs/Hubs which ensured inclusivity and diversity. While the remaining three (3) training events were focused on recruiting new female editors in our bid to bridge contributors gender gap and emphasized diversity and inclusion of the women in the community. This is in alignment with our mission of engaging as many Fula women as possible into the community in order to make the Fulfulde Community standout and be in the footstep of the other larger Wikimedia Communities where women are giving the necessary chance to display their talents and voiced themselves freely. We were able to successfully hosted (5) physical events and (2) online events.
- Our Volunteer Internet Data Support initiative which is meant to support active editors especially those who coudn't afford data has played an important role in boosting the participants morale and sustaining their participation through out this 6 month long project's period. It also helped us retain a good number of editors that have long been inactive due to lack of skills and internet access.
