1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

For the fact that, no any Wikipedia promotion campaign has taken place in history at College of Education Darazo (CEDD), this project will bring in new editors, promotes people awareness to understanding Wikipedia and its sister projects and as well add new content/articles to Wikipedia through this project activities.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

As an effective strategy to achieve the objectives of this project, I will ensure that: 1- I secured the approval of the management of the institution to host the events within the college campus. 2- I will developed a six-page pamphlets that will provide an in-sight into Wikipedia and its sister projects to be given to staff and students on the first day of the program. 3- I will make a well-designed T-shirts, tags and stickers with the caption “Wikipedia Promotions at College of Education Darazo” to be distributed to students of Pre-NCE, NCE I, II, and III respectively.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

The major activities are promotional thoughts and an on-line Edit-a-thon which will take place in the following order: Day 1: I will lead a walk together with other experienced editors through the different schools and departments of the college, where we would take turns giving speeches and lectures on Wikipedia and its sister project while given out pamphlets, tags and stickers to the students and lecturers. Moreover, after the discussions I will take time to ask the students and lecturers simple questions based on what I taught them about Wikipedia those who answer correctly would be given a specially designed Wikipedia T-shirts with caption “Wikipedia Promotion at College of Education Darazo” written on it. Day 2: on this day, I will organised an on-line Edit-a-thon where I will introduce the students and lecturers to editing techniques on Wikipedia and its other sister projects. Also there would be session for opening accounts for the newly recruited editors from among the staff and students who would serve as fresh contributors to Wikipedia.

Yes My team will comprise of best brains, well experienced and seasoned editors that would help me carryout this project. They are:

1. Ibrahim442 : 1st prize winner of the FWAC Contest 2022 and 3rd place Winner of the Wiki for Human Rights Contest 2022 organized by Hausa Wikimedians User Group. He aid many other project oorganizers as facilitator and will be the project lead.
2. Musaddam Idriss: is a highly experienced Fulfulde Wikipedia editor who execute several projects that cut-across Wikipedia, Wikicommons, Wikidata, etc he will co-facilitate and be in-charge of planning and logistics.
3. Abubakar A. Gwanki: is well experienced and active Hausa Wikipedia editor, he will co-facilitate in giving presentation and help with organization of the physical trainings.
4. Bukky658: is well experienced and active English Wikipedia editor, she will co-facilitate in giving presentations and training of the participants.

The main objective of this project is aimed at promoting Wikipedia campaigns and building a sound community of fresh editors from among the peoples of College of Education Darazo (CEDD) with a view for the staff and students to explore relevant vital information about Wikipedia and its sister projects so as to become active editors of Wikipedia.

For this project, the main target participants are the staff and students of the College of Education Darazo (CEDD) who are either working or studying in the college. I will engage them through in-person contacts within the college community and as well on-line training after which I will add the new recruited editors information to whatsapp and telegram groups which will be used for further discussion, questions on any difficulties or problems that the fresher’s may experience while editing articles on Wikipedia and so on. Moreover, this being my first project I have decided to work with highly experienced editors like Musaddam Idriss and Abubakar A. Gwanki in order to run an event that would yield the best outcomes. I will equally ensure that special consideration is given to female students due individual and gender differences as regard to their logistics, refreshments needs, e.t.c.

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

I have initiated and contacted the college consultancy services unit and arranged to hire the college ICT lab of the main campus which have well equipped computers, projectors and enough convenient sitting space for the participants of the project event.
