As being an long time educator and lecturer in a prominant university of Nepal, I've experienced and realized the role of Wikipedia in life of students, educators, and the general public. Hereby to expand these knowledge in different parts of Nepal in collaboration with Wikimedians of Nepal we're organizing Wikipedia Education Awareness Program focusing to:
- Enhance digital and information literacy — helping learners understand how to find, evaluate, and use information responsibly.
- Empower students and educators to contribute to free knowledge — teaching them how to write, edit, and improve Wikipedia articles, especially in Nepali and other local languages.
- Make open knowledge more inclusive and locally relevant — increasing content coverage of Nepali topics, heritage, culture, and sciences on Wikipedia and related projects.
Output:
- Increase the number and quality of Nepali-language Wikipedia articles.
- Improve students’ digital research and communication skills.
- Foster a culture of open knowledge sharing and collaborative content creation.
- Build a bridge between formal education goals and real-world information literacy needs.

Our major approaches & strategies are to develop and achieve high number of quality and productive contents in local languages of Nepal and contents of Nepal in global languages by enhancing the skills of students and educators.

Activities details: Awareness session - to aware and communicate with enthusiasts, activists and associative organizations. Content creation- to discover and create real-time contents either articles or images to aware Wikipedia readers and viewers Edit-a-thon - to create and modify contents over Wikipedia and it’s sister projects Closing event - Report, metrics, blogs and Glimpse of the overall event.

Basically, the major target participants of the program will be students and educators in all 7 Provinces of Nepal in predetermined schools and colleges and covering all the active languages Wikipedia community in Nepal including Nepali, Maithili, Doteli, Sanskrit and Nepal Bhasa.
Regarding engagement of participants before and during the event. We'll be executing promotional awareness sessions via online platform and offline meet-ups before execution. And afterwards we'll be organizing an edit-a-thon session to enhance their skills and quantitative and qualitative growth of Wikipedia contents in Nepal.
We’ll be awarding certificates of participation to students and token of appreciation to associate colleges and institutions for motivation. Community Integration and Mentorship Support will be continued post events.
