We are working to bridge a crucial gap in the Gungbe Wikipedia which is the absence of rich descriptive photos content and well-written, culturally grounded articles. While thousands of photos have been contributed to Wikimedia Commons, only a small fraction are used in articles. The Gungbe Wikipedia still lacks some vital articles, which means content is sparse, underdeveloped, and lacking in visuals.
The key challenges we are tackling include:
- A lack of photos usage in Gungbe Wikipedia articles.
- Limited number of trained Gungbe-speaking Wikipedia editors.
Our main approach is to train and empower a new group of editors and existing editors of Gungbe Wikimedians User Group to not only write and improve articles but to incorporate relevant photos into those articles using resources from Wikimedia Commons, particularly those from Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki Loves Monuments, etc. We aim to spark interest through engaging workshops, writing contests, and mentorship that continues after the campaign.
- 7. What are the planned activities? (required) Please provide a list of main activities. You can also add a link to the public page for your project where details about your project can be found.
