1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

Wikimedians of Ruhengeri User Group, a recently created Wikimedia User Group aim to enhance its participant's awareness of Wikipedia and its sister projects which will increase the future participation in Wikimedia movement in Ruhengeri. This project seeks to:

1. Create awareness about Wikipedia and its sister projects.
3. Introduce Wikidata to user group members
4. Recruit new editors for the various Wikimedia projects
5. Increase skills for existing editors.
6. Create or improve Wikidata items.
2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

Meetup: This approach allows people with similar or same interest to meet online or in-person to focus on a given topic. We will use this approach to discuss about Wikimedia and its projects. It is also suitable for people to socialize and connect with one another.

Workshops/Trainings: This approach or strategy allows new users to gain new knowledge and also rekindle what they already know, that is, they refresh their minds on what they already learned. It is an effective approach since we will have in attendance experienced editors and those that are fairly new. Ideas are shared among colleagues during workshops and in this way, participants would not only gain new knowledge but also socialize and get to know more about their co-wikimedians.

Editathon: Editathons are usually the quickest approach to use if one wants to complete a task early. The participants will be enthused to work more as they see their co-participants doing the same. Again, this approach will allow participants to communicate among themselves and finally address issues among themselves that relate to the event.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

We will organize 2 physical events for meetups, trainings and edit-a-thons which will aim to raise awareness, after events we will do follow up and continue helping participants in all corners. At the end of project, we will share the success of our edit-a-thons with participants.
