Durante la ejecución del WikiSendero y Wikivoyage Loves Venezuela en el año 2025, se ha visto la necesidad de integrar los proyectos Wikimedia en el entorno educativo venezolano. En paralelo a estas actividades y con apoyo de la Universidad de Los Andes y la Escuela Técnica Simón Rodríguez se inició la fase piloto del programa educativo para Wikiviajes, que busca adentrar a los estudiantes de cuarto y quinto año de las materias de Telemática y Turismo a los proyectos Wikimedia.
Este piloto reportó los siguientes resultados:
- 60 artículos, 30 nuevos y 30 creados, en Wikiviajes.
- 300 fotografías para Wikimedia Commons.
- 40 estudiantes inscritos.
Con estos resultados, en conjunto con todos los excelentes resultados de los últimos proyectos financiados, hemos decidido solicitar fondos para iniciar la primera fase de dicho proyecto. Los líneamentos centrales de la propuesta buscan el desarrollo de contenido sobre Venezuela (principalmente la región andina), continuar el trabajo con las alianzas ya establecidas, y seguir aumentando el número de editores. Dada la escasez de información disponible en línea sobre esta zona (y en general sobre Venezuela), el programa busca aumentar la documentación y crear conciencia, involucrando a la comunidad en la difusión de su conocimiento. Esto enriquecerá el movimiento al permitir que el contenido sea creado y mantenido por locales, en lugar de depender de fuentes externas.
Este proyecto no solo se dedicará a la creación o mejora de contenido en Wikiviajes, sino también en la toma y subida de fotografías, uniendo los proyectos anteriores y enfocándolos a la juventud venezolana.

Este programa de cuatro meses, coincidente con el tercer lapso de la Escuela Técnica Simón Rodríguez, tendrá las siguientes actividades:
- 13 de abril - 10 de julio: Clases con los estudiantes de ambas menciones en donde se reforzará las lecciones aprendidas durante el piloto así como creación constante de artículos en Wikiviajes.
- 10 de julio - 7 de agosto: Recorridos fotográficos organizados por la escuela. Dichas fotografías serán subidas a Wikimedia Commons.
- 10-14 de agosto: Exámenes finales en los que se evaluará el desempeño de los estudiantes.
En dicho tiempo también se realizarán talleres y conversatorios con los estudiantes, profesorado y personas interesadas en diversos temas, principalmente la seguridad en internet y cómo contribuir de forma segura en los proyectos Wikimedia. Estos talleres estarán disponibles tanto para las personas fuera de Mérida (Venezuela y el mundo).

Los participantes serán, principalmente, estudiantes de la Escuela Técnica Simón Rodríguez así como residentes de Mérida (sin excluir a quienes deseen participar fuera de la misma).
Tras el proyecto, se ofrecerán talleres de capacitación y edición para integrar a la comunidad en los proyectos de Wikimedia y promover contenido de calidad. Los canales de comunicación en Telegram se seguirán usando para mantener a la comunidad informada sobre eventos y permitir el contacto con organizadores.
Después de las actividades, se continuará en contacto con los participantes, incentivándolos a contribuir a Wikiviajes mediante recordatorios sobre talleres y oportunidades de colaboración, así como reconocimientos para quienes hagan aportes significativos.
