The International Women's day celebration is a day to Recognize and Celebrate Women. It is also a significant event in Wikimedia to promote women empowerment. The aim of this event is to Celebrate and empower Women. Many Women who are digital literate are unaware of the Wikimedia movement and there are many more who are neither digital literate nor aware of the Wikimedia movement. Recognizing the achievement of Women through history is a sustainable way to provide positive footsteps for girls and the world. Organizing empowerment programs will not only amplify Women Voices, it will give them opportunity to be visible. This event is aimed to Celebrate the achievement of Women and also empower and inspire them to become change makers in their community through involving them on the significance of Wikimedia as a resourceful tool for digital literacy. Implementing this event will bring a lot of impact in the Wikimedia community and amongst Women. The impact this project plan bringing are: amplifying Women's Voices, Encourage participation in creating more contents about women, Increase Women editors, inspire participation in Art and feminism etc. To achieve this impact, we will use the community engagement and Volunteer management and Retention approach which will focus on:

a: Sensitization of Women organizations on the significance of digital literacy and how Wikimedia can be a resourceful tool in promoting Women digital literacy. There will also be Social media Campaign to promote the event and engage with Wider Audience.

b. Recognizing the achievement of Women to inspire younger Women in making greater change in their environment.

c. Panel discussion from experience Women Wikimedians to inspire younger Women or newbies.

d. Training Women on how to editing on the Wikimedia platform.

e. Workshop/edit-a-thon

We are involving this strategies to achieve the goal of peer learning, mentorships and continuous follow up, which will help retain the new participants.

This even will also create opportunity for women artists from Time Art and Awka museum foundation to share their experiences as Women Artists. It will also encourage the participation of Women in the Arts, culture and Society.

We will be having 4 weeks event starting on 1st March, ending on 1st April. 1st - 7th will involve Sensitization and visitation to various Women Organizations, inviting them to the event on 8th March. The Celebration of the International Women's day will be on 8th March and this will unveiling Wikimedia awareness and panel discussions and this will last from 8th - 15th March.

The Training, account opening and Workshop on how to edit will start from 16th - 22nd March. The last week of the month will be for edit -a- thon which ends on 1 April.

We will have 7 days physical meeting.

Akwugo - A member of the Igbo Wikimedia User group and a Translator. She is the project lead of the event and she will train participants on the basics of editing.

Celetex: A member of the Igbo Wikimedians User group and a linguist. She will be the lead on how to translate articles to local languages.

Chidex02: She is a member of the Igbo Wikimedians User group. She will be Facilitating on how to create Wikidata items.

Chizoba2: She is a member of the Wikimedia Anambra Network and Will be in charge of communication.

Adakaibe: A member of the Igbo Wikimedians User group. She will be the lead in Sensitizing Women organizations.

The Target participants are Women organizations, Women Artists from Awka Museum foundation, librarians, linguists, Writers, Artists. This are participants from communities in Anambra. Before the event, We will have a pre-event survey to hear from the women what has hindered them from being visible and if they are aware of the Wikimedia community. During the the event our panel discussions will relate to the responses we received. We will follow participants up through social media platforms channels that will be created for mentorships.
