[edit]
M. Please state the title of your proposal. This will also be the Meta-Wiki page title.

promoting of contribution in Mon Wikipedia

Q. Indicate if it is a local, international, or regional proposal and if it involves several countries? (optional)

Local

Q2. If you have answered regional or international, please write the country names and any other information that is useful for understanding your proposal.

R. If you would like, please share any websites or social media accounts that your group or organization has.

1. What is the change that you are trying to bring about and why is this important.

The project is intended to improve more articles with relevant images and more qualified and active members on Mon Wikipedia.

Mon Wikipedia has had its own domain since October 2019. There are still very few people who know about Wikipedia in the Mon community. There have never been Wikipedia editing events or study groups in the Mon community so far as we know. The Mon community right now has very few active members in Wikimedia projects. It needs more qualified and active members and public awareness.

We also have a future plan to collaborate with the Mon National Education Committee which currently consists of 134 Mon National Schools in the Mon area and it is the only educational institution which uses Mon language as the medium of instruction to use Wikipedia in their classrooms.

2. Describe your main approaches or strategies to achieve these changes and why you think they will be effective.

To achieve these changes we need to have both micro-level strategy and macro-Level strategy.

For the micro strategy we want to start with 5 Meet-ups, Edit-a-thons and visual teaching pages in Mon which is a platform where people can find some short videos for example about how to write an article on Wikipedia and how to give reference to their articles etc. And also where people can ask question.

To get more public awareness on Mon Wikipedia from Mon community we want to focus on local for instance more articles about local and more local pictures on Mon Wikipedia.

From this approach there will be more members join our Wikimedian User group and we will get more qualified and active members.

For the macro level we want to start with some printed materials. This time we want to print World Map which country names in Mon and English, and exercise books with advertisements about Wikipedia. When our members visit Mon National Schools to hold a public meeting about Wikipedia, they can give school the World Map and the exercise books to students as present. Mon National Schools are nomally in rural area and run by local people and lack of resources.

3. What are the activities you will be developing and delivering as part of these approaches or strategies?

Regular training sessions and strategy discussion meetings will be conducted for strengthening the project and it will get some more qualified and active members.

A public meeting at schools will give more public awareness about Wikipedia and the printed material such as World Map is always useful in a classroom and it always has attention from students and teachers. Exercise books are always needed for students and the advertisements of Wikipedia will attract the attention of Wikipedia and people in the Mon area will know more about Wikipedia.

4. Are your activities part of a Wikimedia movement campaign or event? If so, please select the relevant campaign below. If so, please select all the relevant campaigns from the list below. If "other", please state which.

Wikipedia Asian Month

5. Do you have the team that is needed to implement this proposal?

We have set op a "Mon Wikimedians User Group" (not recognised officially yet). The group needs more qualified and active members. All of us are volunteers.

1. Htaw Monzel - organiser of this project, top contributor for Mon Wikipedia and Mon Wiktionary, a Social Welfare Supervisor in authority office in Denmark (Jobcenter).
2. Aue Nai - Contributor for Mon Wikipedia, PhD. student.
3. Mannoing Rot - Contributor for Mon Wikipedia, Project Coordinator for Jeepyah Civil Society Development Organisation.
4. Ma Khin Moe - Program Support Director for National Enlightenment Institute. She will be the financial manager for this project.
5. Mon Saw Noel - an experienced campaign organiser, Nainghlon Village administrator. He will be the main coordinator for this project.
6. Please state if your proposal aims to work to bridge any of the identified CONTENT knowledge gaps (Knowledge Inequity)? Select up to THREE that most apply to your work.

Geography, Language, Other global topics for impact (topics considered to be of global importance)

6.1 In a few sentences, explain how your work is specifically addressing this content gap (or Knowledge inequity) to ensure a greater representation of knowledge.

This project will try to bridge the gap that arises due to absence of knowledge about Wikipedia in Mon community. It will have an impact on the overall development of the Wiki by empowering new and existing users.

Mon Wikipedia has only about 1500 articles even though the project is running more than four years. But the project has immense potential to improve the content, if they will get any support.

7. Please state if your proposal includes any of these areas or THEMATIC focus. Select up to THREE that most apply to your work and explain the rationale for identifying these themes.

Education, Culture, heritage or GLAM

8. Will your work focus on involving participants from any underrepresented communities?

Linguistic / Language

9. Who are the target participants and from which community? How will you engage participants before and during the activities? How will you follow up with participants after the activities?

For the micro strategy which is 5 Meet-ups, Edit-a-thons, the participants are the person who want to be contributors in Mon Wikipedia. We want to start with a short video that posts on social media like Facebook. We also have a Facebook Group, Mon Wikipedia, where we are used to keep our communication with our members and the followers. The group page already has 3,7k members. We will be marking the work done on the wiki and take report the feedback on local wiki also.

For the macro strategy which are printed materials are people in Mon community especially in educational area like students and teachers.

10. In what ways are you actively seeking to contribute towards creating a safer, supportive, more equitable environment for participants?

We will be applying the rules of that have been discussed or created earlier for respecting the privacy and other core issues like Universal Code of Conduct and other while communicating via Wiki or any 3rd party app. We will also post a link on local wiki so that more people can join and gain some experience from the project we want to work on.

11. Please tell us about how you have let your Wikimedia communities know about the planned activities and this proposal. Use this space to describe the processes you carried out to make the community more involved in planning this proposal. Please link the on-wiki community discussion(s) around the proposals.

We don't have a recognised User Groups yet. But we have created a User Groups Page on Meta, Mon Wikimedians User Group. The project will be announced on the Mon Wikimedians User Group. It has also been discussed with group through Group's Facebook Page.
