Movement Strategy Implementation Grant Report
Accepted

Please review the notes below before submitting your report.

Your draft implementation plan document should address the following questions clearly:

  • What movement strategy initiative or goal are you addressing?
  • What activities will you be doing to address that initiative?
  • What do you expect will happen as a result of your activities? How do those outcomes address the movement strategy initiative?
  • How will you measure or evaluate your activities? What tools or methods will you use to evaluate your activities?

To create a draft implementation plan, we recommend the use of a logic model, which will help you and your team think about goals, activities, outcomes, and other factors in an organized way. Please refer the following resources to develop a logic model:

Outcomes

[edit]

Please respond to the following questions below:

Where have you published your draft plan? Share the link to it here:

  • Not applicable to this type of project. You may visit this project page for more information: Hatch-A-Wikimedian

What Movement Strategy initiative is this draft plan supporting?

  • We are particularly targeting the Invest in Skills and Leadership Development initiative. While working with the participants to become fully developed leaders in the future, we foresee that these volunteers will be ambassadors of the Movement Strategy. It will not be the sole task of our affiliate and its existing leaders to spread the initiative, but together with the graduated participants, we will be able to amplify the purpose and aim of the overall movement strategy.

What activities have you completed to produce this draft plan?

  • We have conducted a pre-implementation information gathering, course development, and post-implementation program assessment.

In which community channels have you announced your draft plan?

Metrics vs. Outcome

[edit]
  • Over-all Expected Outcome:
Cohort 1: Wikiproject Administrator
Target Results Remarks
At the end of the program, we are expecting that:
  • 7 out of 10 of the participants will be confident enough to apply as project administrators to Bikol Wiktionary, Bikol Wikiquote and Tagalog Wikiquote.
0 Due to the low number of participants who completed the course, no one from this cohort was able to finish the entire training for the Wikiproject Administrator. Making them not knowledgeable enough to apply for the administrator roles.
  • 5 out of 10 are able to create local wikiproject activities. For example, maintaining Word of the Day, Wikiquote of the Day, on-wiki contests, maintaining a site notice, and requesting a Central Notice for local campaigns.
3 There are only 3 active Hatch-A-Wikimedain graduates that are actively contributing to these tasks.
  • 5 out of 10 are able to help with on-wiki technical problems raised by the community, like assisting in creating accounts for campaigns or reverting or deleting errors in editing.
0 No recorded on-wiki technical problems that can be used to measure this target.
Cohort 2: Campaign Organizer
Target Results Remarks
At the end of the program, we are expecting that:
  • 10 out of 10 participants spearheaded campaigns as organizers and co-organizers of on-wiki or off-wiki community events.
6 Hatch-A-Wikimedian completers spearheaded organizing #SheSaid Campaign, Wikidata Day PH, and Women@Work Campaigns.
  • 8 out of 10 participants take the lead in organizing campaigns on behalf of the User Group.
3 The same course completers were able to partner with 1 school for the digital well-being training of senior high school students.
  • 8 out of 10 participants are able to write a SMART project proposal or an example of a Wikimedia Movement grant request.
0 No opportunity to discuss grant making to the participants.
  • 5 out of 10 participants qualified for User Group’s micro-grant program
0 Due to limited annual budget, Wiki Advocates Philippines is not able to fund any micro-grant programs.
Cohort 3: Off-Wiki Mentors / Ambassadors
Target Results Remarks
At the end of the program, we are expecting that:
  • 5 of 5 participants take the lead on the existing User Group’s campaigns and initiatives, performing as trainers and facilitators.
6 Hatch-A-Wikimedian completers spearheaded organizing #SheSaid Campaign, Wikidata Day PH, and Women@Work Campaigns.
  • 3 of 5 participants are able to extend their expertise to their communities by taking the lead on community outreach programs and initiatives.
3 The same course completers were able to partner with 1 school for the digital well-being training of senior high school students.
  • 3 of 5 participants are able to conduct a training session through the Let’s Connect Learning Clinic.
0 Since we’re unable to finish the entire Hatch-A-Wikimedian Course, we didn’t get the chance to introduce Learning Clinics to the participants.
  • 3 of 5 participants are able to submit a program proposal for any global Wikimedia conference.
3 Three of the Hatch-A-Wikimedian volunteers were able to submit a program proposal for the ESEAP Conference 2024.
  • 3  of 5 participants will take on a Committee Lead role within the User Group by 2025.
3 Three of the Hatch-A-Wikimedian graduates will take the lead on our Human Rights advocacies, and Education Programs.

Milestones and Next Steps

[edit]

Milestones

[edit]

Despite the challenges on participants retention and focus in completing the course, we believe that this project is a success. This project has brought a positive change not only to our Hatch-A-Wikimedian graduates, but also to Wiki Advocates Philippines as an organization. We would like to share some milestones from this project that helped us grow as a team:

ESEAP Conference 2024, Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

  • We presented the Hatch-A-Wikimedian program at the ESEAP Conference 2024. Four (4) of our other program proposals were accepted. Three of these proposals were drafted by students from the Hatch-A-Wikimedian program, and one was presented by a volunteer currently in training.

ESEAP Strategy Summit 2025, Manila, Philippines

  • The ESEAP Summit Manila, hosted by Wiki Advocates Philippines User Group in May 2025, served as a key platform for our Hatch-A-Wikimedian graduates. Two graduates applied their skills as event volunteers while another attended as a scholar. Through this experience, we witnessed a significant positive change in their confidence, mindset, and commitment to volunteerism within the Wikimedia Movement.

Hatch-A-Wikimedian Courses

  • Although we’re only able to finish the first part of this course, we were able to assess our team’s capacity in developing resources for the Movement. We are planning on further developing these courses in the future with the help of our youth volunteers and course completers.

Next Steps

[edit]

As for our next steps, we will:

  • Create a comprehensive report on this program, including evaluations of both the internship experience and the student coursework.
  • Develop more interactive short courses to feature on our website.
  • Engage course completers to help create new training modules on volunteer management.
  • Utilize the data gathered to continuously improve our programs and campaigns.
