Goals[edit]

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

We had set the goals before the start of the project such as:

  • Spread awareness about Wikipedia and Wikimedia commons among rural areas people and local photographers.
  • Collaboration with professional photographer's team.
  • Engagement of new users in Wikimedia Commons, Wikipedia and its sister projects.
  • Take photographs of villages (Rural Municipalities) of three districts of Nepal.
  • Improve the quality of images.
  • Upload photographs with different subjects like culture, lifestyles, festivals, shelter, food, dress-up, people and educational institutions.

Yes, we met our goals as mentioned above to a greater extent. All of our team members put their best efforts for achieving the goals. We utilized social media platforms for spreading awareness and engaging participants throughout the country. Online news also facilitated us to convey our goals and programs to the community and people around the globe.

Yes, all of our team members including community is extremely happy with the output we achieved. We were more than excited to execute the plans for WLV 2018 since the beginning of the project. The huge number of female participants was the main highlight of the program. The meetup facilitated us to manage the logistics of the program, discuss the presentation topics, ultimately leading to the success of the program in an organized way. The training helped the participants to take photographs in a professional and qualitative way. The training helped the participants to take quality photographs which will increase the quality media files in commons. Our outreach at Jain Terapanth Bhawan was really worthy as we discussed incubator project i.e. Marwari Wikipedia. Participants were enthusiastic for making Marwari Wikipedia a standalone Wikimedia Project.
