Project Plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. What will you and other organizers spend your time doing?

We will set-up the local meet-up in Asunción, Paraguay, making sure it aligns with Wikimedia’s guidelines and mission. Most of our time will be spent in (1) organizing the local event, (2) developing and operationalizing a clear and wide communication strategy in order to reach a large audience of women, (3) contacting local actors and wikipedia specialists that will guide participants throughout the event, (4) setting up the agenda for the day of the event, and more.

How will you let others in your community know about your project (please provide links to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions)? Why are you targeting a specific audience?

We will make mass invitations via our social media platforms (facebook, instagram, twitter, linkedin), our website and press releases. In addition, we will contact strategic partners and allies of interests within technology, feminist history, academia, journalism and communications organizations.

We are targeting young women, aging from 13 to 39, that are either developers, editors, journalists, activists that represent and defend LGBTQI+ rights, students, scientists and academics. We wish to continue with the mission of expanding and socializing a look at the past and the present that values the contributions and transgressions of thousands of women, and thus stimulate more actions that enhance the leading role of the new generations.

What will you have done at the end of your project? How will you follow-up with people that are involved with your project?

We hope to have 100 new articles within Wikipedia and a web journalistic registry with profiles and a timeline of the demands, achievements, collective traumas and desires of the diversity of women and LGBTQI+ people in the country: working women, peasant women, indigenous women, urban, lesbian, bisexual, trans, political, artists, young people, older adults, with disabilities, etc. These milestones will be incorporated with the active collaboration of the hackathon participants, specialists and social organizations.

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets and feel free to add more specific to your project:

  1. Number of total participants
  2. Number of articles created or improved (if applicable)
  3. Number of photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons (if applicable)
  4. Number of photos used on Wikimedia projects (if applicable)
The event will be successful if we, at least, have 10 new articles within Wikipedia of the demands, achievements, collective traumas and desires of the diversity of women and LGBTQI+ people in the country. Furthermore, it will be a success if 9 participants join the event, learn how to edit properly in Wikipedia, and improve software to incorporate crucial data on women achievements in Paraguay.
