I am a Nigerian lawyer and Wikipedia. I observed that 8 out of 10 Nigerian lawyers lack the idea and philosophy around Wikipedia. This scenario has contributed to a state of poor visibility for this group of professional on Wikipedia. So, I am inspired to introduce Wikipedia to them.

Project Goal[edit]

  1. Recruit new editors: Engage the focused professionals on Wikipedi training and mentoring and ensure they continue editing Wikipedia
  2. Edit-a-thons: Organise a series of edit-athon around to create new and improving existing content on Nigerian laws and biography

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

Training:
Post -training mentorship of participants of the training on how to edit Wikipedia and its policies
Editathon: organize an editathon to create articles for notable Nigerian lawyers and law reports

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?

I have had two in-person meeting with the Young Lawyers Forum on the proposed training

The proposed participants are beginners and will need support of experienced Wikipedia. I have contacted experienced Wikipedia to provide support. .

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

We plan to create to create a whatsapp/telegram channels for mentoring the newly recruit/training participants

  • Local transport for facilitators travelling: $52.53 * 3 = $157.59
  • Participant packs (folder, Wrist bands, pen, wikidata cheatsheet, stickers) = 5.77 * 25 = $144.45
  • Certificate of participation = 2.62 * 25 = $65.66
  • Miscellaneous(Logistics, Bank charges, Disposable masks) = $39.39
