Project Plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

I am doing two edit-a-thon and a Wikipedia for Community Outreach Programme.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

https://web.facebook.com/WikimediaNG/?_rdc=1&_rdr

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I will communicate to the participants about the edit-a-thon through writing to the school management, posting on the school's social media platforms and use of e-fliers to create awareness.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
For example: User:I JethroBT
User: AfricanLibrarian
User: AKibombo

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Some participants have while some don't have, I would need to support some of the participants with the equipment required to participate effectively in the edit-a-thon.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

I will put together a follow up programme for the participants where they will be given assignments to do and submit some weeks after the events and also through continuous engagement

7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below: Yes, see link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vSc0dTnY1vyl_z4O17yAGnU0hLTRoXf4q2-PGmwwweU93vm9ByTaNhGdKSwL3k4xoNWYqYA9t6qVldU/pubhtml

I am running an online and offline event(hybrid event) with special attention to observing Covid 19 Health safety requirement Protocols.

8. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

Nigeria is big and this kind of programme hardly happens especially in the Northern part of Nigeria. This will serve as a great means of awareness and promoting their local contents as well as their indigenous languages.

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  1. Number of events 3
  2. Number of participants 30
  3. Number of new editors 15
  4. Number of of articles created or improved 50
  5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events)

Participants of the Wikipedia in African Libraries course are taking up the challenge to step-down their training and it's really exciting to see this happening all over the continent. I endorse this proposal. The program will bring in more editors especially librarians and teachers in Gombe, North East Nigeria where Wikimedia activities have not been held.AfricanLibrarian (talk) 10:43, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

I am so happy to receive this message from my Group NG4 cohort for the WikiAfLib course. My belief is that this project will translate to a better learning and teaching experience for the participants. It will also act a booster for classroom experience for pupils alike. User:Meritkosy is definitely going to achieve the goals of the project as planned and I endorse it with all hopes high OpenworksOpenworks (talk) 19:43, 11 March 2022 (UTC)

As a Librarian in Gombe and a fellow participant of the Wikipedia in African Library Course, We learnt so much and had an amazing experience during the course. Giving others the opportunity to have the same experience and become Wikipedia editors would be a great delight. BlessingHeir (talk) 15:30, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

This would be a great opportunity for User:Meritkosy to practically apply and share what she learnt during the Wikipedia in African Libraries Course. Being concerned with Community Engagement, this would help recruit more editors in her locale AKibombo (talk) 12:17, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
