Learning[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

- Well, talking about the whole competition period, almost everything’s work well as per we planned
- More than 11+ photowalk were organized inside Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kavre, Rajbiraj, Janakpur and other parts of Nepal
- 80 km+ uptown traveled in 12 hrs so far
- 4 major Locations and 161+ monument sites visited
- 14+ photographers take part
- Monuments Talk at Panauti, Nepal
- Photo-tech Session at Namo Buddha
- Photo guide session at Bhaktapur Durbar Square
- Collaborated with a pro photography team Nepalese in photography and Google local guides of Nepal
- 2 outreach events were organized to boost the competition around Kathmandu and Rajbiraj.

  • What did not work so well?

We work according to our plan to reach more users engagement to the competition. We expected more users (Uploaders) around 300+ but we lack there.

  • What would you do differently next time?

Well, We expect to work with the more different photography organization or group to promote and engage more photographer to the Wiki Loves Monuments Competition.

How to upload pictures in Wiki Loves Monuments

How did we let people know about the contest?

First of all, as per we promised in proposal, we avoid the use of paper promotion with the ultimate tagline of

1 ream of paper = 6% of a tree and 5.4kg CO2 in the atmosphere, 3 sheets of A4 Paper = 1 liter of water

To acquire couple of thousands pictures we can’t sacrifice hundreds of trees to waste. So, we started a new innovative phase to achieve our goals like .

  • Rigorous Emailing
  • Social Media
  • Tell- A friend
  • Central Notice across Wikimedia projects; to be directed to our site e.t.c
