Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?
The Annual General Meeting as well as the Wikipedia Anniversary event was held successfully. It went well and we consider that we have attained our goals.

Outcome[edit]

Please report on your original project targets.

  1. The event was aimed at organizing the AGM of the chapter Wikimedia Bangladesh, with a view to facilitating the face-to-face congregation of the members of the chapter. The event was successful in this regard. The event was participated by 58 people. It was also attended by a number of guests - from academia and mainstream media. The Anniversary program was attended by almost 130 regular and new contributors.
  2. Besides the usual functionalities of the AGM, the event turned into a useful discussion place for the regular Wiki(p/m)edians. And it was covered by a number of print and electric media.
  3. The event was attended by most of the regular members of the chapter since we could publicize the event from an early time. As the event was only targeted for the regular members, we had to select participants through the registration procedure.
  4. The event also resulted in an online edit-a-thon, on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day. The edit-a-thon generated over 100 new articles.

Organize an online edit-a-thon on the occasion of International Mother Language Day 2017 The edit-a-thon resulted in over 100+ articles The edit-a-thon was aimed at having articles related to language, culture and other significant issues that were absent in the Bengali Wikipedia. Many of the articles were created by new Wikipedians.
Rewarding the winners of WLM Bangladesh 2016 We could give away the prizes to the winners as well as the jurors. The WLM was held for the first time in Bangladesh in September 2016. The winners were rewarded at this event.

  • What worked well?

Well, the AGM went well. The management was better than previous AGMs.

  • What did not work so well?

All the Board members couldn't attend, as two members had personal problems. We plant to provide travel scholarship to board members in the future, who would need to travel from their home to attend AGMs.

  • What would you do differently next time?

We would book a larger venue next time and would try to start the preparation at an early time.
