Project Plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

We will be holding 4 Edit-a-thon events.

2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.

We will be using social media, particularly whatsapp and personal contacts to communicate, announce and recruit for the event.

3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?

Yes. User:Chukydyk

4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes. Participants have personal computers and internet access will be provided. Also, new participants will be trained.

5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

All participants will be placed into a Whatsapp group and will exchange social media handles. Most importantly, they'll be encouraged to continue making contributions to Wikipedia and related wiki products in the near future.

6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

The event will be in-house, however, the number of participants in each training and edit-a-thon will be less than 10. Therefore, there won't be need to complete the risk assessment according to the rules.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

There will be strict adherence to all protocol and guidelines for Covid-19 by the Nigerian government.

The meeting room will be at a facility that has the capacity to check temperatures and will provide hand wash basins for everyone (participants) coming in. Seating arrangements for Participants will also be well spaced and participants are expected to come with facemasks. There will also be provision of hand sanitizers for regular use. Merchandise will be given to best performing participants at each event.

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  1. Number of events - 4
  2. Number of participants - 8persons per event = 32
  3. Number of new editors - 4
  4. Number of articles created or improved - 50
