Prithee P/Wiki Loves SDGs Campus Tour
Wiki Loves SDGs Campus Tour is intending to tour three different universities in Nigeria due to the success of the WikiAct4SDGs_Nigeria and Wiki Loves SDGs Nigeria projects. We hope to form a new community with editors interested in the SDGs and keep existing editors active. We will also improve on the shortfalls of the previous projects.

Project Goal[edit]

Choose one or more of the following goals. You can add or delete goals as needed.

  1. Recruit new editors
  2. Increase skills for existing editors
  3. Add or improve content

Project Plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

series of trainings

There will be 2 training per campus. In total, we will be having 6 physical training sessions and virtual follow ups.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

Wikimedians from the Nigerian User group will also be informed Wikimedia User Group Nigeria official facebook fan page.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

We have existing groups for Nigerian Wikipedia editors interested in the SDGs on Telegram and WhatsApp. We will also inform existing wikipedians via mails and run a Social Media Ads via Our handle is @WikiLovesSDGsNG to notify new interested participants.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
For example: User:I JethroBT

Prithee P, James Moore200, Godstime Elijah, Major Lyte, Adebukola3ee, Bukky658, and Dammy

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Participants have equipment needed such as phones and/or laptops.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

We already have existing groups for communication on both: Telegram and WhatsApp. New editors will be added and engaged.

7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

Link to the Risk Assessment protocol.

8. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

The Campus Tour will be on three different universities in Nigeria.

For each listed University, there will be physical events and we will hold virtual events as follow up. For the physical events, each campus will have 2 training sessions. The reason for 2 training sessions is because a single session might not be enough to train new editors. We will then follow up with a virtual session. This training is to make sure we have long term impact.

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  1. Number of events = 6 training sessions (2 trainings per campus) + virtual follow ups
  2. Number of participants = 25 participants per campus
  3. Number of new editors= 40+
  4. Number of of articles created or improved = 150+
  5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events)= 10
