Project Goal[edit]

- Recruit new editors, particularly women
- Engage existing editors
- Add or improve content (and visibility) about women artists / 'artivists'.
- Use museum resources (images and content) to make information accessible to everyone, while encouraging museum-visits amidst the existing Wikipedia editor-community / new editors.

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?
We will be hosting a series of editathons across multiple cities (different museum-venues).
2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.
Our outreach for the event will be undertaken through:
a) a web-page with information about dates/ venues
b) creation of promotional social media posts including graphics / artwork / videos (as can be seen on the web-page that is linked). Our social media reach on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook is close to 10.000 people. Additionally we reach people via our partners.
c) targeted emails to those who have attended / signed up for updates during the past Edit-a-thons [we maintain a list since 2017] as well as subscribers of The Heritage Lab + partner institutions (venues).
d) We will also reach out for press-coverage as done in the past / list our events in the Upcoming Events section of city-newspapers
3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?
Yes; at each city-event, we have local experienced Wikimedians to participate / support / co-facilitate Editathons usually in the ration of 1:5. Some of our experienced Wikimedians belong to regional language-groups such as Marathi Wikimedia, Bengali Wikimedia, Kannada Wikimedia etc. Main organizer [ user:Medhavigandhi ]
4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
Participants are provided with links to Tutorials before the event, as well as a guide to signing up on Wikipedia / editing Wikipedia and adding Commons Uploads. At the venue, they are trained again, and sometimes, also in updating Wikidata, etc. We also provide a list of women artists / pages to be created or edited along with a list of online reference links, and xerox copies from books / articles from magazines etc. Museums usually help us with content-resources as well. Equipment-wise, participants are asked to carry their own laptops to the event. Our team is able to support with 2-3 additional laptops when necessary.
5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
We maintain a list of past Art+Feminism participants who are sent regular updates / stories about women in art; thank them for their contributions and update them about the impact (including statistics). After the event, we also send them a feedback form, and encourage them to share women-in-art stories on social media throughout the year.
6. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
We started Art+Feminism in 2017 in India with a lot of enthusiasm and hope. In the past few years, we have built a community that shares our passion for making information about women artists accessible and visible on the internet. Partners such as the India Art Fair have given us the much needed platform to share the campaign, and the number of organizers from India has grown last year.
Impact[edit]
How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:
- Number of events : 04
- Number of participants : 70-80
- Number of new editors : at least 50
- Number of of articles created or improved: 60 articles.
- Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events): since the events are in different cities, it is unlikely that participants will repeat, but we do expect some of our participants from previous years joining us.
Resources[edit]
What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).
We have 2-3 facilitators, with varying levels of Wikipedia literacy, who have planned, organized, and executed the same event last year and will be an important resource for this year. Wifi, Content-Resources and other infrastructure support will be provided by our venue partners. Our volunteer team will assist with content-resources / training manuals as well as coordinate with local Wikimedia chapters in different cities to encourage their participation.

- Support Ms Gandhi is a very capable individual who has been leading India's efforts in Wiki campaigns such as Art+Feminism, for which she also served as country ambassador. - Support Proposed budget is reasonable for the proposed outcomes in terms of number of events and the participation. Also, Medhavi has previously led several activities in the context of A+F in the past, and I am confident about this project achieving substantial impact in the mentioned terms.
