Goals

[edit]

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

Unfortunately, I did not meet the initial goals of the “Photos of Tunisia” project. Although I successfully organized one workshop focused on Wikimedia Commons and quality images, I was unable to continue with the rest of the planned activities. This was due to internal issues within our user group and a personal period of depression, which led me to temporarily stop all Wikimedia-related activities. However, I am now returning to Wikimedia projects with renewed motivation and a clear vision. I consider this a fresh start, not just as a returning contributor but as someone committed to building a sustainable and impactful Wikimedia presence. I plan to take this opportunity to fix this grant report transparently and responsibly, learn from past experiences, and launch a new chapter in my Wikimedia journey. I am now focused on organizing new initiatives, rebuilding trust, and contributing meaningfully to the movement, especially in Tunisia.

Outcome

Learning

[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

The one workshop that was successfully organized worked well. It introduced participants to Wikimedia Commons and the concept of quality images, and it generated positive interest and engagement. The experience showed that there is local enthusiasm for Wikimedia-related activities, especially around photography and free knowledge.

  • What did not work so well?

The project was not fully implemented due to unresolved internal issues within the user group and personal challenges that led me to pause all Wikimedia activities for a period of time. The lack of continued coordination and communication after the initial workshop resulted in a loss of momentum and incomplete delivery of the planned outcomes.

  • What would you do differently next time?

Next time, I would ensure stronger planning and support mechanisms are in place before launching the project. This includes clearly defining roles, establishing better internal communication, and preparing a backup plan in case unexpected challenges arise. I would also reach out earlier for support from the broader Wikimedia community if I face difficulties. Most importantly, I will focus on rebuilding sustainably, step by step, with achievable goals and more collaboration to ensure long-term impact.

Finances

[edit]

Grant funds spent

[edit]

Please describe how much grant money you spent for approved expenses, and tell us what you spent it on. 300 tnd

Remaining funds

[edit]

Do you have any remaining grant funds? YES 2100 TND

Due to legal and financial restrictions in Tunisia, it is not possible to return or send money outside the country. Therefore, with the approval of the grants officer, the remaining funds will be transferred to the Wikimedia Tunisia User Group to support their upcoming activities. This ensures the funds remain within the Wikimedia movement and are used to continue promoting free knowledge in Tunisia.

Anything else

[edit]

Anything else you want to share about your project?

I want to take this opportunity to sincerely express my regrets for not being able to complete the project as planned. Due to personal and organizational difficulties, I was unable to fulfill the original goals. However, I have returned with a renewed commitment and am now actively re-engaged with the Wikimedia Tunisia User Group. This marks a fresh start for me within the Wikimedia movement. I am ready to contribute responsibly and consistently, and I hope this will be considered a new page in my journey as a Wikimedian. I deeply value the mission of free knowledge and am determined to make a positive impact moving forward.
