Goals[edit]

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

We were unable to meet our goals 100% due to some challenges faced.

Outcome[edit]

Please report on your original project targets. Please be sure to review and provide metrics required for Rapid Grants.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
7 Events (3 in-person and 4 online) 8 Events (3 in-person and 5 online) We were able to run 8 events in total. Due to the demand for support and more training for the new users, we added one more online event out of our proposal, of which they helped the new editors in learning.
45 Participants 46 Participants 23 New registered editors 20 New editors to join in the coming program 3 Facilitators
250 articles created or improved 128 articles created 131 articles edited At some point, we were able to do part of the articles though we had targeted creating 250 new articles. Over 85% of the work was done by the new editors
25-30 repeating participants 27 repeating participants The number includes the participants who did not create their accounts.

Learning[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
We are thankful we met new editors who were ready to work as volunteers in the Wikimedia projects.
  • What did not work so well?
The change in the academic timetable made it so hard for the students being able to participate fully, for many were in research writing and others doing their projects and others had to prepare to sit for their examinations. However, we had issues with registering new accounts due to our IP Address being blocked due to registering many accounts and due to lack of enough facilities (Laptops). Many of the users were unable to register on that particular day.
  • What would you do differently next time?
Having edit-a-thons arranged during weekdays at some point would be helpful for some students who confessed to being free some of these days. Moreover, contacting the administrators to give access to our IP Address to allow many accounts to be registered on the same IP would be a must thing to do in the coming events.

Finances[edit]

Grant funds spent[edit]

Please describe how much grant money you spent for approved expenses, and tell us what you spent it on.

We spent the grant money as proposed and not otherwise. As described in the proposal below is the snapshot of the expenditure, with just a slight change in the bank rate which shot from 45USD to 50USD which was not an issue and never affected the program logistics.
  • Foods and drinks: 35(participants) X 8USD X 3(Events)=840USD
  • Venue: 150USD X 3(Events)= 450USD
  • Transportation for facilitators: 65USD X 3 (Facilitators)= 195USD
  • Accommodation for facilitators: 45USD X 3 (Facilitators)= 135USD
  • Internet support: 80USD
  • Online subscription (zoom): 14.99USD
  • Bank Rates: 50USD

TOTAL: 1,764.99USD

Remaining funds[edit]

Do you have any remaining grant funds?

Remaining funds have been used or will be used for other approved mission-aligned activities. This use has been requested in writing and approved by WMF.
Yes we have a sum of 235USD remaining grant funds.

Let us know if you would like to use the remaining funds on a similar or new project. Remember, a grants officer must approve this request before you spend the money.

We request to use spend it on the coming proposed project (USLW Dec21).

Anything else[edit]

Anything else you want to share about your project?
UniStu Love Wiki is always striving to see that more University and College students engage into Wikimedia projects. The University of Dodoma (UDOM)is a big university consisting of different colleges. The demand in this University is very high than what we delivered due to the limit of the budget (More students wish to join) thus we could not be able to accomodate many students.

We are planning on establishing a Wikimedia club in each College in the University of Dodoma so as to allow more students to join and through which it will help us be able to monitor and provide support easily. However, We thank the WMF for the support financial, technically and through advising through which they've helped us grow since we stared from zero
