Project Plan
[edit]Activities
[edit]Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:
1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?
- We are organizing one grand editathon on the 7th of May 2022 which will have an in-person component as well as an online component. The in-person event will take place on the premises of the University Library in Bratislava while other editors will join online through the video conference platform Zoom.
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
- We announced our intentions to organise this event first on the 15th of January 2022, i.e. before the Annual General Assembly which approved this plan. Subsequently, we informed our Wikipedia community in Kaviareň (“Café”, i.e. editors' discussion) as well as on the event landing page.
3. How will you let participants know about the editathon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
- Announcement on Wikipedia (see event landing page and outreach dashboard and on our social media channels:
- as well as the press release and social media channels of our partners – the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden in Vienna, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bratislava, and non-governmental organisation Záujmové združenie žien Aspekt (“Interest Association of Women Aspekt”).
4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals.
- Following experienced editors will serve as instructors for event participants:
- Jetam2, WUG WMSK Chairman, Slovak Wikipedia administrator, and WikiGap 2020 organizational team lead,
- Akdar, WUG WMSK Vice-Chairwoman,
- Lišiak, WUG WMSK Vice-Chairman and Slovak Wikipedia administrator,
- Armin, WUG WMSK Audit Committee Member,
- two more highly experienced editors will join the in-person event and others will join the online video conference.
5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- Participants were asked to select a topic they wish write an article on and to gather reliable sources to use but they will be provided with some sources (encyclopedia or dictionary excerpts, books, academic journals, etc.) and they will have access to databases via the Wikipedia Library. We also asked participants to bring their own laptops.
6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- We will be following editors' work using the event landing page and the outreach dashboard. A writing contest will run from the 7th of May until the 7th of June 2022.
6.1 How will you judge the contest and award prizes?
Note: Grantees, judges, and other contest leaders are ineligible to receive prizes. Grantees who are serving as judges may not receive gifts through grant funding.
- Contributions will be accepted only if they fulfill the following criteria:

- The three participants with the highest number of points will receive a prize. An additional prize will be awarded to a new editor with the highest number of points. (Those two prizes are cumulative.)
6.2 For photo contests, what is the strategy to get images used on projects?
