[1] [2]

Over 236 articles were created and improved (27 new articles and 209 improved articles) Students were enthusiastic and thrilled they could create articles on the worlds leading encyclopedia and wasted not time at that
If at least 5 new editors are recruited 30 editors have continued to show interest. Around 30 editors have continued to show interest in Wikimedia projects of which they all have an accounts and have now all been added to the Wikimedia User Group, Nigeria
Number of event: 2 events 2 Two training and edit-a-thon were organized as planned.

Learning[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
  1. Experienced editors were on the ground to answer difficult questions presented by the participants
  2. We got the desired venue for the event and Students of Lagos State University and other external participants were very happy to participate.
  3. Students' interest in the event was not waned even after postponing it two times.
  • What did not work so well?
  1. The President of Wikimedia Usergroup Nigeria was not available due to unplanned circumstances, however, he sent a representative to represent him
  2. During the event some of the participants were students of different universities who came to represent their organizations as delegates. Some had tests during that time which could not make them really contribute during the edit-a-thon.
  3. Getting verifiable sources for some of the festivals was very difficult as participants had to dig and dig.
  • What would you do differently next time?
  1. I would fix a date in which invited speakers would be free and available to attend.
  2. I would also ensure I fix a date wherein all participants would not be overwhelmed with too many activities at school or at work.
