Goals[edit]

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

Wikimédiens du Bénin User Group has organized in 2020, the second edition of The AfroCine Project contest in Benin. Thanks to our local community, although the COVID-19 impact, we've reached some of our goals. The contributions helped to create and improve the quality of articles about the beninese cinema on Wikipedia. Due to the COVID pandemic, all the activities were online. Overall, we are satisfied with how the project went.

Learning[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

We are satisfied with the number of participants and the quality of articles we've got. We'll continue to improve the articles and try to keep the participants working on Wikimedia projects.

  • What did not work so well?

We haven't achieved 20 articles created or improved during the contest. Only 12 articles had been created during the contest period.

Due to the Outreachdashboard downtime, we could not be able to track participants' activities.

  • What would you do differently next time?

We think that we have to found the way to engage more participants in online activities. During this contest, after selecting particpants, we enrolled them in a dedicated whatsapp group and stayed in touch untill the events hour. The challenge now is to make them work more when they are alone, and also find an alternative tool for outreachdashboard to track their activities.
