Learning[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

A huge number of women showed willingness to become Wikipedia Volunteers to bridge the gender gap, the number of articles exceeded the targeted outcome and even after the events still new people wanted to contribute.

  • What did not work so well?

More people wanted to participate in the events but due to limited resources and the targets we made we could not accommodate all of them.

  • What would you do differently next time?

We want to recruit more women to become Wikipedia volunteers to bridge the gender gap, as the lesson we learnt from the previous events that most of the Tanzanian women are not aware of Wikipedia, so we plan to go far to other regions to create awareness and bridge the gender gap in Tanzania communities.

Anything else[edit]

Anything else you want to share about your project? The Women in Wiki Training is very important in Tanzanian communities because most of the women are not aware of Wikimedia and its projects. Therefore through these trainings they will raise awareness to women and bridge the gender gap which will help them to write and contribute to various issues regarding women for their sustainable development. Women will have more access to information concerning their rights, education and opportunities that rise due to Women in Wiki Trainings. We plan to reach women in different regions in Tanzania so as to create awareness and equal participation in contributions between men and women.
