This will be mainly an in-person and partly an online meetup that will recruit Tanzanian Wikimedians across the country to come together, discuss the 10 movement strategy recommendations and finally prioritize them as to which among the 10 our community will prefer to work on in terms of implementation.

Project Goal[edit]

  1. Encourage community participation
  2. Coordinate community and Lead discussion on priotization of the 10 Strategy Recommendations
  3. Document implementation ideas related to movement strategy
  4. Do translation of strategy related materials into Swahili language
  5. Disseminate information about movement strategy recommendations to the community
  6. To raise awareness about the existence of regional and global Movement Strategy events
  7. Use this chance to discuss more about the upcoming projects and activities within our community.

  1. What community or communities will be involved in this movement strategy discussion(s)?
    We will involve Wikimedia Community User Group Tanzania members, Creative Commons chapter in Tanzania, Jenga Wikipedia ya Kiswahili members and anyone with free knowledge enthusiasm who would like to join our discussion.
  2. How will you make sure everyone is invited?
    We will use our social media platforms, phone calling and messaging our members who do not have smartphones, and the information about this event will also be shared with the representatives of the mentioned groups so they can share with the rest of their members.
  3. How will you document community discussion(s) and feedback related to movement strategy? Who will be responsible for documenting these discussions?
    We will choose one person to document the key points/summary of what will be discussed during the meetup.
  4. What is your facilitation plan to support productive discussions around movement strategy? Please also provide a link to a Friendly Space Policy that will be implemented to support these discussions.
    The discussion will be led by (UserːJadnapac) who is the community liaison on movement strategy related matters in Tanzania Wikimedians community. He will be helped by the team of other 4 active members to moderate, document and other necessary activities to make the event effective. Aso we will use the WMF Friendly Space Policy to govern our event.
  5. If you are requesting funding for online tools or services to support participation, please describe these services and how they will be used. If not, please write N/A.
    Funding for online activities will include purchasing mobile data packages for a reliable connection to facilitate the online meetup as well as supporting the participants by purchasing internet data for those who will confirm to attend the event.
  6. If you are translating movement strategy materials, in what languages will you be supporting translation? Who will be responsible for doing the translations? If not, please write N/A
    The translation of movement strategy materials will be done from English to Swahili language. The translation will be done by (UserːOlimasy) who has some experince on movement strategy context with support from (userːJadnapac).
  7. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined in the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:

    This is one of the important project to the Tanzanian Wikimedians because it is meant to briedge the gap existing between what the previous movement starategy steps , the current and the upcoming. Also it will help the members to know the srategic direction of the entire WM movement.

note: The below budget is the hybrid between some facilitation activities to the East African wikicommunities on prioritization process during (before and after) the global conversations.
  • Facilitation (facilitation time including facilitator preparation, meeting facilitation time, and debriefing): atleast 4hrs@30= 120 USD
  • Documentation (document preparation time, time spent documenting of discussion, post-meeting work): 5hrs@30=150 USD
  • Online tools or services (subscription services for online meeting platforms, social media promotion): 175 USD
