Learning[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?
  1. The camera was bought successfully and shipped to us. Everything is working fine in the Camera and it's good for use.
  2. Extra charges for collecting and buying the camera (receipts / snapshots will be sent via email) was incurred but since the grant budget was more than the amount of the Camera we purchased, we used some of the money to cover these charges.
  • What did not work so well?
  1. During purchase of the intended camera, the transaction failed due to availability of purchase transaction charges/fee. Due to this, we were forced to go a little lower to buy this camera which is still very good. But we had POS Denial fee incurred.
  • What would you do differently next time?
  1. Investigate all charges carefully before making a grant but even though this was not really an issue since the camera bought was not exactly the amount put on the grant. So this spared us some funds to pay for charges.
  2. After computing the grant budget, have a +10% of the funds on it to avoid unforeseen circumstances.

Yes, as mentioned in the Grant funds spent section, we have $198.89 USD left. We would like to use the balance for commuting and snapping of pictures over the next 6 months to complete the 1st phase of this project.

The funds remaining from this grant in the amount of US$198.89 / 105,336 XAF were deducted from another grant payment for Grants:Project/Rapid/Wikimedians_of_Cameroon_User_Group/Wiki_Loves_Earth_2019_in_Cameroon.
