Content, outreach, education and communities


  • Augment, improve and diversify free knowledge about Canada, especially on Wikimedia projects.
Done The main activity organized to achieve this objective during this reporting period was the National Contribution Month in Canada hosted in October. During this campaign, a total of 9 contribution workshops have been organized in 6 different cities across 3 provinces.
  • Increase the number and the diversity of contributors from Canada on Wikimedia projects.
Done The number of contributors have been increased through introduction to contribution during the National Contribution Month in Canada and other workshops. To increase the diversity of contributors, a workshop has been organized specifically towards the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Increase the awareness and the knowledge of the Canadian public and institutions about Wikimedia projects, free licenses and open knowledge.
Done This was achieved by hosting training and outreach events with public and university libraries.

Indigenous peoples on Wikimedia projects


  • Augment and improve free knowledge in Canadian Aboriginal languages, especially on Wikimedia projects.
 Partly done This was partly achieved through the continuation of the pedagogic project at the Otapi Highschool of the Atikamekw Community of Manawan. However, this was not extended to other Atikamekw communities nor other Aboriginal communities in Canada during this reporting period.
  • Augment, improve and modernize free knowledge about Canadian indigenous peoples, especially on Wikimedia projects.
Not done Nothing was done for this objective during this reporting period.
  • Increase the awareness and the knowledge of indigenous communities about Wikimedia projects, free licenses and open knowledge.
Not done Nothing was done for this objective during this reporting period. However, Wikimedia Canada discussed with the Canadian Commission of the UNESCO about a possible participation in a international symposium on indigenous languages hosted in Canada to promote the Wikimedia projects as a tool to revitalize and preserve indigenous languages.

 Partly done This objective was partly achieved through Wiki Loves Monuments. However, no specific outreach has been conducted to photographers communities during this reporting period.
