Welcome back from Wikimania 2016!

Participant[edit]

Drbug

ruwiki - Russian Wikipedia

Outcome[edit]

Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
There was an online-meeting on 07/24 2016 where I described shortly what I have learned at Wikimania 2016. Also I was the organizer of two conferences - Ural Wiki-Seminar and Wiki-Conference 2016. At both I shared information I leared at Wikimania. Especially useful was the knowledge about Wiki-data and use of SPARQL there.

Connections[edit]

I met Elvonudinium, and we have ideas to develop Wikipedia in Buryatia. We discussed a lot of topic with Рөстәм Нурыев, for example, about an Sibir-Tatar event in Tyumen. I met Nataev and a lot, lot of others.

Anything else[edit]

Unfortunately, I don't think that the format was right. It is very inconvenient when you have to walk long distances between different talks, dining facilities and accomodation. It's much more convenient when everything is at single compact space.

As a negative side effect of the chosen format, due to non-standard accomodation facilities that doesn't meet strict regulation of hotels, my colleague from Russia broke his hip severely (and it seems that he either will never completely recover or it will take many months) - and due to remote location, one of the days of the Wikimania was lost for me as I spent it reaching him in hospital and back.
