Grants:TPS/Millars/Wikimania/2019/Report

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Welcome back from Wikimania 2019!

Participant[edit]

  • Millars
  • Spanish Wikipedia (but quite active also in Catalan Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata)

Outcome[edit]

Presentation about #100Wikidays in Jornadas de Wikimedia España 2019 in Pamplona
Option 3: New Creation: What was one useful outcome that was created at the event for the Wikimedia movement?
  • During Wikimania there was a Iberocoop meeting. We discussed that we must update the rules for groups or affiliates to be part of that network. Users Warko, Ezarate and me are working on it. At this moment we do not finish the work yet.
  • ElsaBornFree and me had a meeting to talk about the next Simple APG for Wikimedia España. This is a crucial tool for the chapter to keep active in Spain. We have present the new application for 2020.
  • I attended a session about oral knowledge and diversity. In Wikimedia Spain we started to work with LinguaLibre during the Wikimedia Spain Conference last October in Pamplona.
  • It was the first time I attended the #100Wikidays meeting and photogroup. This motivated us to introduce again the project in Spain. Estevoaei and me gave a talk during the Wikimedia Spain Conference in Pamplona last October.

Connections[edit]

Poster about Ballot papers campaigns and tools

It is quite difficult to list all connections and people I met during 5 days, but some of them are:

  • I could talk with Claudio, from Wikimedia Chile, and we discussed to organized some activities related to the Magellan–Elcano circumnavigation in its 500th anniversary, with other affiliates.
  • I could received my gifts for the Menu Challenge in Wikidata that I won for this Wikimania. This project was awarded during WikidataCon 2019.
  • I attended the reception at the Swedish embassy of foreign affairs due to the Wikimedia España participation in WikiGap campaign. Seeing how many groups participated encouraged us to continue with this activity.
  • I could represent Iberocoop in a session by Hogne Neteland about regional cooperation.
  • I presented a poster about a project we develop in Spain to collect ballot papers.
