Welcome back from Wikimania 2019!
Option 1: Shared Experience: What is one way you shared something from your experience with your community (either locally or globally), after the event?
- I wrote a trip report at id.wp detailing my experience and things I learned from Wikipedia. I also gave a talk session with my local community in Padang.
I met and learned a lot of new Wikimedians, something that I always wanted to do. During Learning Days I met Asaf, who was in charge of my cohort and Jim, who kindly photographed me and told his experiences as a New York-based Commons photographer. I chatted with Tanzania about Swedish novelist Jonas Jonasson during WikiGap reception at the Swedish foreign ministry. I got to meet Katherine, Jorge and Anna during the Human Rights session, something that is always dear to my heart. Amir helped me with Minangkabau translations at Translatewiki and promised to help the Minangkabau Wiktionary project as a LangCom member. I was also reunited with some people: I met Tofeiku again after Yogyakarta in April, and Delphine after last year. I have always wanted to meet Bobbyshabangu, a South African Wikimedian who studied in Indonesia and spoke Minangkabau. I met Bogreudell, Kristen, Isaac, Satdeep, and Sailesh (who gave me a Wikipedia Asia Month pin, thanks!) for a Wikitongues session (and recording for me). Finally, I spent most time with fellow South-East Asian Wikimedians: B20180, Exec8, Athikhun, and others. I walked with Blossom to the Nordic Museum in Stockholm's light rain; she said she trusted my sense of direction and we *did not* get lost! On the way home, I was in the same flight with Subha who (again) recorded me speaking Minangkabau.
