  • This project will be led by two dedicated Wikimedia volunteers, user:A'isha A Ibrahim and user:Lawan Bala, aims to strengthen the quality and quantity of reliable knowledge about Bauchi on Wikimedia projects. Building on the outcomes of the previous 1Lib1Ref campaign, this new initiative will focus on training, content improvement, and community engagement across various Wikimedia projects especially Hausa Wikipedia. The project will equip participants especially students, educators, and first-time contributors with the skills to create, edit, and enhance content relevant to Bauchi’s people, culture, and institutions. By fostering local participation and ensuring content reliability, the project seeks to promote sustained growth of free knowledge in Northern Nigeria.

It's two days of training and editathon.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

We have let them know about the proposal via Whatsapp group of Bauchi Wikimedians editors.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

We will let them know through social media channels and other communication processes.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

We will engage them through Whatsapp group.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

This project is a continuation of our efforts to grow a vibrant and skilled Wikimedia community in Bauchi. With the lessons learned from our previous grant, we are more confident and better prepared to achieve even greater impact. We are also committed to promoting inclusivity by ensuring participation from diverse groups, especially youth and women. Additionally, we aim to document and preserve Bauchi’s rich cultural heritage through multimedia and multilingual contributions. We appreciate the opportunity to apply and look forward to further contributing to the Wikimedia Movement.

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

I A'isha A Ibrahim will serve as the lead organizer, responsible for planning, communication, and coordinating with participants. Lawan Bala will also serve as a co-organizer, handle logistics, documentation, and budget management. Ibrahim Sani Mustapha, an experienced Wikimedia contributor, will serve as the project facilitator, leading the training sessions and mentoring participants.

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense as a unit amount and include a total amount.

  1. Event hall for two days = N50,000.
  2. Event banner: ₦20,000.
  3. Projector rental: ₦20,000.
  4. Transport and accommodation of one organizer and one facilitator= ₦50,000.
  5. Branded T-shirts for the organizers and facilitator: ₦21,000.
  6. Food and refreshments for participants and facilitators =2,500 × 28=N70,000.
  7. Contingency: ₦20,000.
