  • This project aims to document and showcase Kano’s rich cultural heritage through Wikimedia Commons. It includes a photography contest and training sessions to engage both new and experienced contributors in capturing high-quality images, and audio of traditional attire, festivals, cuisine, architecture, and crafts. Participants receive guidance on Wikimedia Commons policies, copyright, and best practices to ensure their contributions are properly licensed and categorized. By increasing freely accessible visual content about Kano, the project seeks to enhance its representation on Wikimedia platforms, promote community participation, and contribute to global knowledge sharing.

It is two days training and uploading.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I have let them know through our social media (WhatsApp group)

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I will let them know by reaching out to them via the communication channels.

Yes, the participants have their equipment and skills which will help them to participate and contribute a high quality uploads.

Wikimedia foundation's dashboard tools will be created.

I A'isha A Ibrahim will lead the events and Gwanki as a facilitator.

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense as a unit amount and include a total amount.

  1. Events' hall = N40,000×2=80,000.
  2. Events' banner = N15,000.
  3. Projector rental:N15,000
  4. Tags and flyers: N15,0000.
  5. Branded Tshirts for the organizer and Facilitator: N7,000×2=14,000
  6. Food and refreshments to the participants and Facilitators = N2,000×22=N44,000 × 2 (for two days) = N88,000.
  7. Contingency = 20,000.

Total amount = 247,000.
