  • The project aims to introduce participants to Wikidata, helping them develop essential skills for contributing to the open data ecosystem. This workshop will provide hands-on training focused on the basics of Wikidata editing, data structuring, and linking information to enhance knowledge representation. Through interactive sessions, participants will learn how to add and manage data, contributing to the visibility of regional information on a global scale. This initiative supports digital literacy and fosters community engagement in open knowledge, empowering new editors to contribute meaningful data to Wikidata.

it is a two days training and editathon

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I have let them know via our Whatsapp group.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I will let them know via a WhatsApp chat and phone calls.

4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

Yes they have a smart phone while others have a laptops.

A WhatsApp group has been created for engaging the participants.

7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

Yes, the project will be the first-ever Wikidata workshop organized in Bauchi State, marking a significant step toward introducing the community to open data and structured knowledge. This arrangement ensures effective local engagement, accessibility, and a deeper connection with the participants in Bauchi. The collaboration between the organizer and the facilitator will bring diverse expertise and perspectives to the workshop, ensuring its success.

How do you plan to track your project metrics? (do not create a metrics dashboard until your project has been approved for funding) I will use WMF outreach dashboard to track each metric.

I A'isha A Ibrahim will lead the events with help of Lawan Bala as a facilitator.

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense as a unit amount and include a total amount.

  1. Events' hall = N40,000×2=80,000.
  1. Events' banner = N15,000.
  2. Projector rental:N10,000
  3. Tags and flyers: N15,0000.
  4. Branded Tshirts for the organizer and Facilitator: N6,000×2=12,000
  5. Food and refreshments to the participants and Facilitators = N2,500×22=N55,000 × 2 (for two days) = N110,000.
  6. Contingency = 20,000.

Total amount = 262,000.
