The Wikimedia Awareness and Training at Taraba State Polytechnic Suntai aims to introduce students to Hausa Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons, highlighting their importance as platforms for free knowledge and open access resources. The project will combine awareness sessions with practical training, equipping participants with the skills to edit Wikipedia articles and upload relevant media files to Wikimedia Commons. By engaging the Polytechnic students, the project seeks to inspire new contributors and strengthen the Wikimedia presence in Taraba State.

Two training sessions (one virtual session and one in-persion session)

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

On WhatsApp group of the students

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

We will inform them through their WhatsApp group

They have gadgets and will support with the training.

We will utitlize WhatsApp group for that.

We will use outreach dashboard tool to track contributions.

  • Refreshment = ₦2,500 × 20 = ₦50,000
  • Projector = ₦10,000
  • Power supply (generator and fueling) = ₦20,000
