- "From Kano to the World: Sharing Local Knowledge on Wikipedia" is a project focused on capturing and sharing the unique cultural and historical heritage of Kano State on a global platform. Through a two days of training and editathon, the project will train participants, particularly women and youth, in Wikipedia editing and content creation. The goal is to empower the local community to document their own stories, traditions, and notable figures, ensuring that Kano's rich heritage is well-represented and accessible to a worldwide audience. This initiative not only preserves local knowledge but also promotes cross-cultural understanding by connecting Kano to the world through Wikipedia.

- I'm doing a two days of training and editathon.
2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.
- I have let them know about this proposal via our general WhatsApp group chat.
3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.
- I will let the participants know about the edit-a-thon via the WhatsApp group of Kano Wikimedian some others via SMS messages. And I will be communicate with them via phone calls.
4. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead/assist the event? Please provide links to the usernames of these individuals. (NOTE: all experienced Wikimedia editors MUST endorse and sign your proposal as proof of availability)

- Yes the participants have their equipment and skills which will help them to participate and contribute a high quality content.
6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- The participants will be engaged after the events through our WhatsApp group chat by giving them a response about their concerns or hidden something about Wikipedia.
7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- Yes, this project aims to empower the people of Kano to document and share their rich cultural heritage on a global platform like Wikipedia project. By focusing on training women and youth in digital literacy and content creation, we hope to foster a sense of pride and ownership within the community, ensuring that Kano’s stories are told by those who know them best. Additionally, the project seeks to build lasting relationships with local institutions to sustain these efforts long after the initial workshops, creating a living archive that continues to grow and evolve with the community's input.

I will use WMF outreach dashboard to track each metric.

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense as a unit amount and include a total amount.
- Events' hall = N40,000×2=80,000.
- Events' banner = N15,000.
- Projector rental:N10,000
- Tags and flyers: N15,0000.
- Branded Tshirts for the organizer and Facilitator: N6,000×2=12,000
- Food and refreshments to the participants and Facilitators = N2,000×22=N44,000 × 2 (for two days) = N88,000.
- Contingency = 20,000.
Total amount = 240,000.
