- This is the first project of it's kind in Kano State which will introduce an English Wikibooks to the region, with a special focus on the Wikibooks Cookbook. The project aims to train participants on how to create, document, and improve Hausa and Nigerian recipes on the Cookbook, showcasing the region’s rich culinary traditions to a global audience. Through interactive workshops and guided editing sessions, participants will learn how to write clear recipes, add reliable references, and use open licenses for free knowledge sharing.

- Many of the participants still lack the necessary skills to create high-quality contributions onEnglish Wikibooks . To bridge this gap, we will organize practical training sessions with detailed guidance and close mentorship throughout the two-day program. Additionally, we will provide laptops and internet access for those without the needed resources, ensuring that every participant can practice effectively and build the confidence to continue editing beyond the training.
6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- They will be engaged through our Network WhatsApp group.
7. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
- Yes, this initiative will not only promote open educational resources but also preserve local food culture, empower new editors with digital literacy skills, and encourage contributions from Kano State to global culinary knowledge on English Wikibooks.

Resources

- I (A Sulaiman Z), the project lead serve as the main organizer responsible for coordinating activities, managing logistics, facilitating the physical training sessions, and preparing project reports. Ibrahim Sani Mustapha will serve as a co-facilitator and mentor, providing technical guidance on editing and structuring content on the English Wikibooks Cookbook, as well as supporting participants during practical sessions. Gwanki will serve as the online trainer, providing virtual guidance, mentorship, and technical support on editing and structuring content on the English Wikibooks Cookbook. .
What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense as a unit amount and include a total amount.
- Event hall for one day = N50,000.
- Branded T-shirts for organizer and facilitator: N20,000
- Event banner: N20,000.
- Projector rental: N20,000.
- Food and refreshments for participants and facilitators =N3,000 × 27 = N81,000.
- Online Engagement: N15,000.
- Contingency: ₦20,000.
